You all do know that they just released an M3 Grant and Lee right? it wasn't too big a jump to release an M31 based on the running gear in those kits-- I wonder what else TAKOM is planning for this chassis? Perhaps a cast hull?

no, you're all wrong about the decision process. Takom's drone spotted my just completed Academy/Legend/scratchbuilt interior model receiving its first coat of paint!! I think we should start a thread of similar timings - I'm sure there are many out there.

Im not arguing the validity of your statement or its accuracy, but that sounds to me like an absolutely ridiculous way to run a "for profit' company.
Im a professional chef by trade and I know from first hand experience that I don't get to simply cook "what I like" but have to make what my customers want and are going to eat, otherwise the business goes where they get the food they want. So to me not releasing a kit that would likely sell just on the merits of not liking the subject matter seems like shooting your own company in the foot..
Bear in mind that these companies try to release subjects that people want to buy. The KMC 1/72 scale 727 is an outlier.
Given a list of potential subjects that could be reasonably expected not to lose money, the model company owner is far and away most likely to choose the subject he likes, even if there are others that might make him more money.
