I vaguely remember a HIMARS in a trumpeter catalogue.
Is this really it? Or is someone kit bashing.

I seem to remember it in a catalog a couple years ago too. Hopefully this means it is coming out soon. The plastic looks correct. Fingers crossed.

I hope so. I'm ready to build it and their new MLRS.

Found it. It is listed in their 2017-2018 catalog.

Yup! Hopefully they get it out. I'm not even gonna be pushy about it. Nobody else even has this on their radar.

It looks like the kit will have the early armored cab. It had sharper edges and more numerous, rectangular uparmor attachment blocks. The most common version of the cab is more rounded on edges and has fewer, circular blocks.
The early version was used by Marines in Afghanistan in 2009, so it is still a good thing to have and converting it to the more current version should be easy.

It can be backdated to an unarmored cab as well using standard M1083 cab, slightly modified (hardened windows and doors) too.

Has the tire pressure on the front wheels been reduced to lower the height for air transportation?
Seems a little lower than optimal tire pressure for hard surfaces ..

It looks that way. CTIS is standard on all FMTVs.

HIMARS early armoured cab is a version of the Low Signature Armored Cab (LSAC), so Trumpeter had already done most of the cab work for this new kit. Hope they bring the later one, too.

Yup, Trumpeter already has the armored cab and the basic FMTV 5-ton frame and running gear parts from earlier kits (M1078 LMTV Armored Cab and M1083 FMTV kits). All they need(ed) to do is the HIMARS specific parts for it. They also already have the fire control parts for inside the cab and the M26 Rocket Pod from their M270A1 MLRS kits too.

Gino, that's the ones I remember at Ft. Sill in 2004/2005.

I did a walkaround of the early version at White Sands Missile Range in '07.
Not quite as robust as my usual walkarounds as far as number of photos goes, but the usual array of hard to see areas, i.e. undercarriage, hydraulics along the top of the launcher, etc.
I'm offering it free of charge to anyone purchasing any of my other walkarounds, or anyone who has in the past week.

The modern cab will take some conversion... I wish they'd come out with the current version. It'll take using an update set for new bumpers, carving out the windows, changing the doors to suicide doors, etc.
What you posted is a FMTV cargo truck cab, not a HIMARS cab. This kind of cab is not used on M142 HIMARS.

No, they don't. HIMARS cab is so different that they probably didn't use any cab parts from the M1078 kit, or just some smaller details.

and the basic FMTV 5-ton frame
No, HIMARS has longer wheel base than M1083, so it uses longer frame.

I got it. My point was that Trumpeter has the basic parts that could be modified, changed, added to etc. to make the basic truck. I didn't say they were the exact parts needed.
