That would sale like crazy, unless it had a ridiculus price attached to it. Not to mention all the after market that would come with it.

tamiya would have to pay a pretty penny to Fiat Chrysler -- who own the Jeep trademark. Don't know if they would do that. The did for their 1/35 effort -- but when they issued the 1/48 kit, they only called it a utility truck -- to avoid the licensing fee.

I've been begging for years for a Jeep in a larger scale. Be it 1/24 or 1/16 scale. How about a different model to you have the M-38, M-38-A1, M170 ambulance, M-151 and the M442 Mighty Mite to pick from.

[quote] Italeri have a 1/24th Willys....

Yes Italeri does have a 1/24 scale but if you've ever built one you may agree it lacks a little compared to the 1/35 scale kits put out by Tamiya and Bronco. Hasegawa put out a decent 1/24 scale Jeep but discontinued it.
Asuka makes a good Bantam. I was hoping they would release more Jeep kits MB/GPW, M-38, M38-A1, all the way through to the M151 and M442 Mighty Mite.

The Italeri 1/24 jeep is a 30 year old kit. The Tamiya 1/35 and Hasegawa 1/24 jeep are 20 years old. Don't you think it's time for something new?

And if you really want to go back, the MPC jeep is from 1968 or so. They also did a CJ-5/M38A1 back in 1974. The regular MPC jeep could be built as a M38 since the kit was originally released as a postwar civilian jeep, then given alternate parts for a WW2 jeep. Needless to say, it's very old and crude but very nostalgic. It was one of the first large scale kits I ever built.

But plastic does exist and since Tamiya has done all kinds of Jeeps, you'd think they'd do one of the older models in 1/24 or 1/16? They have the license from the auto maker to use the name and jeep front (The grille is trademarked)

How about Dragon shrinking down their 1/6 jeep? And did 21st Century toys ever do a 1/12 - 1/18 jeep? Those toys can be a good start for a model.

A PS to my previous post.
If Tamiya would not consider releasing a larger scale Jeep maybe they should consider adding a top, a covered windshield and a new set of decail's to their 1/35 scale Jeep. It's still a nice kit for it age.

There is one available in 1/6 scale.
I built one years back a great kit.
Dragon of cause.
I might post the build here one day.
