ICM did a turretless Panther Ausf. D configured as one of the recovery tanks built by Henschel just before Kursk. The turret opening had a wooden deck over it, but no recovery winch was installed.
No, ICM Bergepanther is post-Kursk. The first 12 delivered for the battle were based on the initial Ausf. D Panther and had only 12 bolts on the road wheels (which ICM has not). Plus they were not equipped with the crane neither the front MG supports.
Part of the Bergepanther production was of this simplified type, it was not only a temporary solution for the first batch.
And yes, I also hope one of the multiple Panther kits announced will eventually evolve into a Bergepanther
There were no 12-bolt road wheels. Initial production vehicles had 16 bolts per wheel, as shown on the ICM kit. These suffered excessive rim failures, so the number of fasteners was doubled on existing wheels, with either 16 bolts or 16 rivets added between the original boltss. These 32-fastener wheels started to appear in summer, 1943, and mixed sets of wheels were sometimes seen.
The final wheel design had 24 bolts per wheel.
