Looks nice. Not really my cup of tea, but hopefully this release means their M1120 LHS is quickly behind it. Pretty much all the basic LHS parts are in this kit since the carrier is a modified M1120 LHS.

Wonder if they'll do the AN/TPY-2 radar for it...

I wonder why they use a HEMTT A2 and not the A4 model?

Becuase they already had the basic A2 parts from their M983 kit. Making it an A4 would require pretty much a completely new kit. My guess is they also wanted to get this one out quickly to capitalize on current events with the N. Korean nuclear issues and S. Korea deployment of THAAD.

I don't pretend to, as yet, understand the mechanism but it certainly looks like everything you need for the LHS is there already in the sprue shots.
I gotta assume the THAAD rocket pod is flatrack palletized and uses the LHS mechanism for loading and unloading the rocket pod.
On a quick internet search most all I could find were either photos showing the THAAD in firing position or in transport mode. Only one photo shows any sort of rocket pod reloading function. It does seem that the earlier THAAD system was built around the PLS as the launcher/transport. However the newer, heavier, extended range ER THAAD is based on the the HEMTT LHS.
Earlier THAAD system (square launch tubes) loading onto a PLS.

The AN/TPY-2 X-band radar looks very cool with support trailers. Then being towed by a bevy of HEMTT LETs would be very nice.

In fact whole AN/TPY-2 system consists 5 modules: Radar unit, support electronic unit, power generator unit, cooling unit and command vehicle. That would be a challenge!

Anything ADA I have to get. Even if it is from the button pushers side of it. When I was at Ft. Bliss in late 1990's. I saw a few launches up near the WSMR. I hope they worked out the bugs in it. It couldn't hit the broad side of a barn then.

Yes, well aware of the vehicle requirements for the full AN/TPY2 radar facility:

I wonder if some model manufacture will ever offer the entire mobile complex?

I always wonder how a Chinese model company goes about getting permission to measure something like one of our THAAD missile launchers?
(Actually they probably just stand back a short distance and photographically measure it with LiDAR. Or maybe like me, they know exactly how big the tire rim is and then they scale everything else off of that!)

I am talking about the real vehicle. Hmm... Maybe they couldn`t get all the electronics and APU to the A4 chassis.

You could very well be correct. I have yet to see a THAAD system mounted on an A4 though there are plenty of other A4s in the THAAD entourage. (Fueltrucks mostly.)
I have however seen THAAD mounted on PLS 10 x 10s with an even larger generator and electronics bay. (No spare tire.)
Once again I want to say the Army should start employing the HEMTT A3 with all that onboard generating power AND a backup battery/capacitor UPS system!

Sorry, misread that. I agree with your assessment of why it is on the A2. Sounds right.

Com' on Gino as good as your 1/35th scale HEMTT A3 with Phalanx close in defense system looks you really should convert it; merge your A3 chassis with this THAAD LHS system and show the Army how it really should be done! No need for a separate generator and even more room for electronics.
(You can still trailer mount the Phalanx OR PALLETIZE IT! for changable mission profiles.)
Gino please don't make me be the one to build it. I am already busy enough and besides, I'm sick! - - - Wha, wha, wha!

You have me confused w/someone else, I didn't do a HEMTT A3 w/Phalanx. It does sound like an awesome model though.

It would be nice if they would at least fix a few of the things they did wrong with their M983 kit. Like no blower on top of the engine and a valve body oil pan on the transmission. I guess they're not going to include the control radar. My local model shop say's the kit will probably retail for about $180.00 That seems like a lot for just one vehicle. He expects to see all of TRUMPETER's product to take a large price hike.
