Looking real good so far. Just a thought you might just go with a curtain instead of a full door. Don't ask me how I might know such a detail. It was always pretty warm, so a 3/4 length curtain would allow some air to circulate. Wayne

A red velvet curtain. Don't ask me how I know either.

Alright Wayne and Patrick, how about this?

Hi Sherb,
Still confused with the item in the room.
Looks like a sculpture of some kind?

Sherb-- the red is definitely the one in the place outside the gate. I never went there, but I passed on the way to church every Sunday

Hey Tom,
These are the two Verlinden sets in each of the upstairs rooms.
On the left, "What did you do in the war, Daddy?" #266 and on the right, "Two in a tub" #217.

I haven't put the bed frame together yet.

Yes, the curtains are definately the way to go. I believe they may have been used in the VD film they showed us. Of course I was at choir practice and missed it. Ha Ha. Wayne

Numbah 1 work GI!

Juicy Lucy love you long time, she no butterfly.

You no cheap Charlie, you souvenir Juicy Lucy $2.

The above may have been heard first hand, however I do not recall the circumstances under which the conversation transpired.
Decades later, during a rousing session of "choir practise" I began narrating the above. This occurred after a reference to Full Metal Jacket had been made. My wife at that time looked at me quizzically and flatly stated "That wasn't in the movie". Friends assured her it was in the "directors cut" of said movie. Thank goodness for friends.
I never spoke of it again.......

Lovely work sir!

in early 68 the going rate was $5 MPC. Then the 82nd Airborne came into Chu Lai with a pocket full of cash! The price rose to $10 MPC, and the rest of I-Corp was horrified!!! Within a month we saw $15 MPC. Some folks got rather upset about this inflation, and headed north to Fat City (the real Fat City) where the going rate was five dollars or a case of orange soda pop. The 82nd was never forgiven.

I've got a smaller one that I'm working on using some older VLS figures. Still need to make some tropical plants. There is a picture in my gallery. I used the GI from the small bath tub and a walking girl from another set.

Only place I was ever inside in DaNang that was pure military was the SF safe house. There was a government house in Quang Nghai, but was also off limits. Out by the old bus depot. Heard there were a few way up north of DaNang, but never went up there much. Have no idea what Saigon was like because I never got south of Cam Rhan Bay. But have heard rumors that they existed in NaTrang & Quin Nhon.

My Mom sent me a rather testy letter lecturing me about staying away from the Boom Boom places (what she called them). I assured her there wasn't a woman within 40 klicks of my base camp (there wasn't). She watched too much TV!
