Well...not too sure what I make of this. Sure, I get everybody wants an Elefant or Ferdie in their stable I guess...but it will be hard to compete against Dragon or Tamiya. It could be targeted towards those wishing to upgrade from the Italeri kit I guess, if it's in that price range. I'm not too sure if too many people out there will worry about the differences between a Ferdie and Elefant too much unless they plan on a specific Italian or Russian dio. Well, I hope it does well for them anyways...but I just picked up the Tamiya Elefant for $38 new with free shipping...it'll be a tough market.

Zvezda seems to be following a Kursk theme with Kursk specific Tiger and Panther and now this. And is this all new or another Dragon kit adaptation like the Tiger II?

I'm a fan of the Ferdinand and ecstatic for Elefants but I've got 2 Dragons, well 3 really with the Cyberhobby, and an old Testors (Italeri) Elefant. I'll wait for a comparison review before getting excited. Well, at least excited enough to buy one.

Looks like the price will be right between Italeri and Dragon. Old Zvezda Ferdinand (Italeri rebox) was #3563, the new one is #3653, that's not going to be confusing...

I guess the price is what they are targeting: An all new, well enough crafted kit on todays average standards for the convenience builder (not those nut cracks as we are ). See their Pz. IV: Well off, not too bad, gives you a nice model OOB without any specials or extras (like PE). But it has its shortcomings... obviously recognizable for the majority of Panzer nuts, but not the average model builder... I guess, that's what we'll be seeing with that Ferdinand as well... And hell yeah, why not?

Some sprue shots on a Russian forum.
From the sprue shots looks like I'll finally be adding a Ferdinand to the stash.

I agree guys; probably going after thise who wish to upgrade from the Italeri kit. It's interesting how the casemate is seperate pieces. Looks like the "captured" version decals are included..cool.

Already have too many Dragon versions of both, including the Cyber kit with the factory graffiti decals so I'd need to see an advantage before I'd care. Managed to get hold of the out-of-production Jaguar interior set so that'll see the workbench some time this winter!

Hmmm...I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised. At least the conical bolts have the right shape, and welded joints have suitable texture (some might say over-done, but it will even out under some paint). Still has a ficticious gun mount, though. Nice fine anti-slip texture on the fenders.
