The new Ferdinand from Zvezda is ready and selling.
The Ferdinand was built to give some use to the chassis of the discarded Tiger proposal from Porsche. Armed with the powerful 8.8 cm Panzerjägerkanone 43/2, it first saw action in the famous battle of Kursk.

Zveza offers now this tank at 1/35, with 292 parts.

Looks like the price will be right between Italeri and Dragon. Old Zvezda Ferdinand (Italeri rebox) was #3563, the new one is #3653, that's not going to be confusing...

I guess the price is what they are targeting: An all new, well enough crafted kit on todays average standards for the convenience builder (not those nut cracks as we are ). See their Pz. IV: Well off, not too bad, gives you a nice model OOB without any specials or extras (like PE). But it has its shortcomings... obviously recognizable for the majority of Panzer nuts, but not the average model builder... I guess, that's what we'll be seeing with that Ferdinand as well... And hell yeah, why not?

From the sprue shots looks like I'll finally be adding a Ferdinand to the stash.

I agree guys; probably going after thise who wish to upgrade from the Italeri kit. It's interesting how the casemate is seperate pieces. Looks like the "captured" version decals are included..cool.

Already have too many Dragon versions of both, including the Cyber kit with the factory graffiti decals so I'd need to see an advantage before I'd care. Managed to get hold of the out-of-production Jaguar interior set so that'll see the workbench some time this winter!

Zvezda gets better every time, I hope we will see more interesting releases from them

Hmmm...I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised. At least the conical bolts have the right shape, and welded joints have suitable texture (some might say over-done, but it will even out under some paint). Still has a ficticious gun mount, though. Nice fine anti-slip texture on the fenders.
