I doubt I will buy any new kits. Maybe some zimm or tracks if I need them for certain kits. But I need to build more and collect less. The only thing I will buy is if the Scammel Transporter goes on sale somewhere. I've just received the last of my new buys in the mail and my stash is out of control. I'll spend a few weeks fixing and finishing older kits and then start a couple of projects. Probably start with some easy builds - maybe the Tamiya Elefant, Jagdpanzer and Opel truck which will be a railcar flaktruck conversion. Then move on to something bigger. I might attempt the Takom V2 transport or even take out a dusty old aircraft. B58 Hustler maybe? Happy New Year everyone!

My stash is small, probably just enough to get to the end of 2018. I joined two campaigns that end by mid-year and will be happy if I accomplish both by then. After that, there's my first Meng kit in my stash which I'm looking forward to.

Well, I've got a plan like that too. Almost 2 dozen hanger queens, a couple of dry dock projects, plenty of garage queens and too many in the stash. I figure my resolve will hold until at least the third week of January.

What Mark said...

What Mark and Mike said.

I will be attending a few swap meets to offload the bulk of my 1/48 aircraft stash, the risk being I have been know to come out with the bags fuller than when I went in 🤔😳😬

I have Huge Goals.
HUGE !

I plan on finishing ONE shelf queen this year !
I know - its an Enormous Task. But I feel 2018 will be my year.
Of course I said the same thing 2017, 2016, 2015, etc...

Procrastinators Of The World Unite !
Tomorrow (or the next day if tomorrow is not convenient).

My plan for 2018 is to continue building only vehicles/artillery pieces, that served/serve with my country armed forces.
I'll buy kits,I'll finish scratchbuild projects and whenever there is a Campaign, that fits into my masterplan,I'll go for it-even with more than one build.
Happy New Year everybody!

Tom, Tom, Tom....
have we got a place for you!
Unfinished builds or Hangar Queen campaigns have been the impetus for most of my finished builds here these last few year.
HQ8 is forming now over in the Aeroscale campaigns. I haven't seen a UB '18 thread yet.

I'll see your 'procrastinators unite' slogan and raise you an "Introverts Assemble! ... separately in their own homes".

Seriously, I'll try for two hangar queens and two shelf queens this year, plus a more recent start. Lately I've done pretty well at Armorcon with Shelf Queens , so I've got until Sept to get one together.

But as they say, 'no plan of battle survives contact with the enemy'.. we will see how it works out.

If I run another campaign for unfinished models, it will probably be restricted to Armorama subjects. Aeroscale has "Hangar Queens", and Model Shipwrights has "Dry Docked" campaigns (or will) and hopefully AutoModeler will have a "Garage Queens" campaign.

Here's my plan.

Trim, paint and install the HEMMT M977 " load"

Build the Patriot launcher, radar trailer and tractors. (Christmas and birthday)

Research the HEMMT EPP genset and build it (maybe aftermarket will provide)

Assemble a display case for all above.

Man up and tackle the BD Dumvee, no experience with resin and the bag of bits is pretty daunting!

Find out who makes a grille guard for the M923 gun truck.

Hobby on.....

My plan is to clear out the stash. At the rate I build, I will be 100 by the time I am finished and my stash is not that big! (About 30 kits)

Only acquisitions I would consider M113A2

IJN Yamato, Great Wall or Eduard F15E in 1/48 or Tamiya F15E in 1/32 (I know, I know these are not armor and would only get them if a huge bargain!)

Big part of my 2018 plans is to finish as many kits as I can, since I'm probably going to move houses. Finished projects require less footprint in the car or moving truck!

I'm dealing with eldercare issues at the moment and it's really cut into building. I've tried working at the SAME kitchen table that served me so well 50 years ago. I miss my workbench! I do clean up road wheels & indy tracks while I'm at the old homestead but no serious gluing and definitely no painting.
Gosh, that sounds so selfish.
My 2018 goal is to be happy with whatever bench time I can grab and if I finish something, WHOOPPPPEEEEeeee !!!
Best wishes to all in 2018 !!
Tom
