Probably covered before but did not find it in a search and google was not super helpful so for the dumb question of the day,
Are the back of the Tusk 2 ERA tiles black or sand on an Abrams?? I have seen it modeled both ways and am confused.
Thanks for any help

Here ya go, some views of the back. The scalloped tiles have black areas but primarily sand colored.

The black areas look like a 1/2" of high density foam. I wonder why there would be padding at the top and bottom of the tiles.

I believe it’s just for protection when shipping/storing.

Would the mounting parts on the inside of the scalloped ones make the padding useless? I got the impression that the mounting rods/cams/edges protrude further than the padding, look at 2:15 and 2:23 when they are lifted from the box and also when they are being installed at 2:33-2:34 and 2:37.
That will be an interesting painting task some day, together with all those green straps/handles on the explosive blocks ....
