While building my M-10 the spring antenna base shot out of the tweezers and into the carpet monster. The hunt for it has been futile.

Where in the U.S. can I find a replacement part? I have found plenty overseas, but would like to get it a bit sooner if I can.

I know your pain all to well.. When I had carpet and that happened I would clean out the Vacuum (or put a new bag on it) and then run over where I lost the part. (I had a bag less Vac) Then would look in the bin, or bag if you have it, on the vac. If it was not there.. increase the area and try again. Worked every time and never did damage to the part if it was that small.

RB Model makes a number of different style antenna bases out of turned brass. I got a set of modern bases with metal antennas ( or is it antennae?) at Sprue Bros. for under $ 3.00 US.

Try using one of the wife's old nylons secured over the nozzle end of a vacuum. The fine mesh allows air through yet retains the capability of trapping small parts before entering the dust bag. If the vac has an airflow adjustment open it to allow bleed air in behind the nozzle. That will reduce the suction.

Thanks everybody. Damn carpet is gray which isn't helpful with green parts. The fact it shot out of the tweezers is even worse because I have no idea where it went.

If you don't want it to actually be a spring - just look like a spring - get yourself a cheap pack of guitar strings (metal, not plastic!) from your nearest music store. Snip off a length of the appropriate diameter (there will be 6 different), job done.

Very good for little non-working springs and also for ribbed tubing in engine bays etc, although it doesn't bend easily. A pack will last for ever.

I’m going to cut off the US style ones from the Takom M47 and replace with Bundeswehr antennas. You can have the kit antennas.
