Looks like quite a different construction approach to the fenders/hull assemblies. Not too crazy about the vinyl-looking tracks - maybe they can be replaced with Dragon Magic Tracks, as well as with the tools and weapons . Have to wait for the build reviews and critics.

The clear sprue looks like it's from a car kit. I guess you only need the headlights.

I will take one, wanted always a 251/A. As Biggles2 said - I replace the tracks with Dragon's tracks of my spare box (beside some other bits).

Oh Rapture! Another basic German kit that we already had tons of. But hey - at least it is totally new tooling.

Yes, the clear glass sprue looks oddly interesting.

We have tons of 1/35 Ausf A's? Can you provide a link to those?

By tons you mean zero? Nor do we even have a decent B because the interior Zvezda made is totally incorrect. Kind of like me saying we already have tons of Shermans if Tamiya brought a Ram out.

Here's something that I've been waiting for years, ever since Dragon announced but apparently did not release this version of the 251. That and the UHU. Odd. Anyways, if ICM is the only game in town I want to know more about it.

The clear sprue looks suspiciously like the one that comes with their Studebaker truck kit.

I checked on the file that ICM has provided, and it has that clear sprue. Nevertheless, I just sent them a note to inquire on this matter. I will update all on the feedback. Cheers

It may look like any other plain vanilla half-track Mike. A plastic model of this variant however is a rarity (if not zero, not sure), reason for some folks to be excited about this release. Well, you can count me as one too.

In my comment was referring to the large number of German halftrack models in general.

I will stay out of this discussion in the future. I bow to other's greater knowledge on the subject.

I empathize with your frustration. There are hundreds of halftrack kits out there for axis. This version is somewhat unique as it's the first 251 to see service. No one has yet kitted one in 1/35, so it's a real "must have" for some. That being said, it would be nice to see the Ram which for Canadians especially is considered a very important tank. And a Kangaroo with current market quality would be good. It seems that we either get German stuff - which I personally like - or we get weird boutique releases like Dragon's recent Japanese torpedo boat. There are a lot of allied releases we'd like to see, and I am sure at some point someone will do them. Kind of like the Bergepanther! it took so long lol.

Here's a question - is the antennae not usually located mid hull on top? or is this a pseudo-command version sans crazy antennae frame?

As long as it's better than the old Nitto 251/B I'll consider it.

:D

I built a Nitto one and have the rocket version in my stash. My god, they are an abomination!! I will build it as a heavily modified sci-fi thingie for my Bandai peeps...

Most of the pics I have seen don't show the mount, although there is a walk-around that has the mount on a bracket welded to the hull just above the front of the left fender.

There's a picture of the fender antenna mount in the 251 Half Track book by David Doyle . Caption states early on antenna mounted on fender , later moved to upper side of body . Sorry can't post a picture , I suck at computers , now if you want some one to fix your 8 track ....

Damn wish I still had my '77:T Bird!
Thanks for the antennae note. I searched google a bit didn't find any *drumroll* aerial shots!

There are some good pics of General von Saucken's 251/6 in Concord #7025, it's an ausf. A and is interesting because it should have been retired at that time. It could be a fairly easy conversion.
