got a question for any former m151 guys on here...did the open top mutt's ever get the white paint in place of the brown for the winter merdc? or did the hard tops only get this? reason i'm asking is cause i have an m60a1 i did a white wash on and i wanted to put my m151a2 next to it in a dio and ive absolutely fallen for that color scheme...

MUTT owner/collector here.
Ya, it wouldn’t be rare to replace the brown (field drab) with white. The green (Forest Green) would remain... This is Winter, Verdant - used in snow with evergreens... most common for Europe.
Or - you can replace the green with White and leave the brown (field drab) for Winter, Temperate... snow with brown grass and trees.
Canvas/vinayl tops and side curtains aren’t usually painted. The paint typically won’t come off of them very easily and if put on the older canvas tops (two part rear window), it can mess up the waterproofing.

That’s a great resource, but that particular TM is for the modern 3 color NATO patterns.
This one has references for the Four color patterns. Note that they reference the M151 with and without canvas. However, in application, the canvas wasn’t usually painted. The enamels just cracked and flaked.
Also, in this pub, if I remember correctly, one of the diagrams has the colors 1 and 2 reversed by mistake. It’ll become evident as you study the pattern.
