Hi all
This is what I've been up to lately. Quite a task, but I think it turned out very well.
It,s the Scammel kit from Thunder Models and the Tamiya Mathilda, both with some extras from the spare box. I've also used some resin Wheels from LZ Models, which I think have a more correct tyre markings.

Absolutely amazing work Jacob. I Love the weathering job you have done and the tires look perfect. I can’t wait to do the recovery tractor.

Great work. Really well matched together, although I can't believe how high up the trailer sits.

Outstanding work! ... Love the attention to detail and the weathering looks spot-on! In addition, the Scammel and Matilda compliment one another very nicely.🍺🍺🍺

Excellent job. I am building this kit at the moment, out of interest what was the base color sand you used ?
Posted: Sunday, April 01, 2018 - 01:04 PM UTC
Hi David
I've used Tamiya Buff as the base Colorado, and then toned it a bit with some filters/washes.

Very nice indeed and congrats on the well earned prize!
May I ask, how did you do the chipping? Hairspray (or chipping medium equivalent) technique or by brush? It looks very convincing and I'm still looking for a nice method to use myself, since I've had my problems with the hairspray technique lately...

Marian: I used a small bit of sponge to create the chipping. This way I can build it up in the selected area by adding a little bit at a time.

Great looking build there Jacob. Currently building this kit myself.
I painted it in the sand colour then changed my mind and am now stripping to go mickey mouse. Those wheels do look amazing.. might have to get me some of those..

Thanks Jacob, I might try this myself on my next model. You've done an absolutely amazing and convincing job with it on your Scammel!
