Kingtiger Late Production w/New Pattern Track s.Pz.Abt.506 Ardennes 1944

So I am building the above kit and was wondering Zimmerit or Not???

Yes I did both google and forum search and from what I guess is I have a 50/50 shot as I read the plant was bombed or the were in defensive positions not requiring it

I am confused by all the different answers on the web

Help and thanks

Hi mate. As you probably already know, this kit is almost identical to Dragon's earlier 6232 kit. Which is a shame - they took out many of the styrene options and left you tracks that you have to personally clean up (non-magic tracks).

This discussion might help answer your questions You can make several types of KTs with your kit - with our without zimm.

The test batch of tanks with the new pattern track and 18-tooth sprocket were issued in August, 1944 to the 506th Battalion, and had Zimmerit. The field testing was deemed a success, but the production orders for the old pattern, double-link tracks had to be used up first, so production of tanks with the new track did not resume until March, 1945. Those tanks had no Zimmerit.
