Leo 1s had different antennae lengths dependent on radio fix. Older analog radios had longer antennae than the digital radio sets. I'd assume Leo 2s would have digital radios. The Revell instructions show them as the longer analog whips. What are the correct lengths?

Revell instruction sheets give the lengths as Leo 1 and 1A1 as 75 mm. Same for the Leo 2s. The Leo 1A1A1 is supposedly 53 mm while the 1A1A3, with the SEM 80/90 digital radios, is 41mm. Are ant of these correct? In theory, if they are correct, shouldn't the Leo 2s have shorter whips? Any variation by other users? (different radio fixes?)

I can't give a straight answer but you should visit this site. It is a goldmine as far as Leos are concerned.

Checked the Leo Club site. Plenty of replacement antennas , but no lengths . Could buy a dozen books and hope they mention the lengths. Unfortunately they don't have a forum section, least that I could find.

Have to tried on the Leopardmania site... I have a few of their aerial sets in the stash. I can check on the lengths later and let you know ( currently in the place that helps pay for my modelling 😉)

Thanks, Paul. Unfortunately I'm on disability. When rent and such are dealt with I get about $300 left to feed me, a cat, a dog, and a Jeep for the month. and get anything model related. (Spose I COULD feed the cat to the dog and have a little extra for one month.) The trick is I'm working on a batch of Leos ..1s and 2s , and different operators. Not sure how big a difference in whip length there is. (I know it varies by radio fit and freq.)

The antenna length question may be answered outside a Leopard topic reference. I would guess that these are so-called standard length and used on other vehicles and equipment. Perhaps change your search criteria.

The other option is to compare the length in relation to the rest of the vehicle and base that for your calculation. Few would take exception to this result.

Depending on which country you plan to make the Leopard, a lot of antennas in 1/35 scale would be around 8cm & 9cm .

But, once again all depending on which type of radio and antenna mounting units used.

Cheers
