Dragon has rolled the two main 8.8cm Flak variants into one box in its latest 2-in-1 kit. This 1/35 scale 2-in-1 kit allows modelers to build either the FlaK 36 or the FlaK 37.

This is good, since the original kits are spotty in print. Can't have too many 88s out there.

Is this a re-boxing of kit No. 6260 which included two aluminum barrels w/FlaK Artillery Crew? ... which BTW is excellent with or without the aluminum.

Taking into consideration what Dragon releases these days I think it's safe to assume there is no aluminium barrel included

If you can get the original boxing with the full gun crew, aluminium barrels and all manner of metal and etched 'extras' then go for that one. As Dan says, I doubt they will have included all those with the re-boxing.

The first releases go remarkably cheap on eBay etc. which is amazing for what is in the box and it truly is a complete package and set-piece straight from the box.

IMHO one of the best 1/35 kits that DML have ever done.

Considering what is actually different between a FLAK 36 and 37 I find this "2 in 1" banner ridiculous! I have both the FLAK 36 (DRA 6260) and the FLAK 37 (DRA 6287) and can say that both are -undoubtedly- much more inclusive in regards to extras, than anything that Dragon is likely to release in this new age of overpriced and under-delivered. The FLAK 36 kit, for example, comes with two aluminum barrels that allows you to build either an 18 or 36. It also comes with a full gun crew and accessories including both plastic as well as brass shells, shell packing crates and accessories, including a beautifully-detailed Sonderanhanger 202 artillery limber. Wow! The FLAK 37 kit, described by Dragon as a "3 in 1" kit, allows you to assemble any of all three variants, and includes three different gun shields, the Sonderanhanger 202 and the beautiful brass accessories. Alas, no gun crew, though that is (was?) offered separately. So, at the very minimum this "new" release is probably a cheapened version of those two earlier excellent kits that -oddly- doesn't offer the FLAK 18 configuration. No mention was made of the gun crew so one can only hope. And then you see the new price and have a coronary... I'd recommend looking for either (or both) of the earlier releases as they still show up at model and trade shows.

You can get 6260 on ebay cheaper than the MSRP of this "new" kit.

These were the questions bugging me; gun crew and barrels. I note that the box art is the same as the original 6260; in that issue the complicated camo on the gun shield came as a transfer. Will that be in there also? I built this years ago and it is a great kit. For some reason never got round to the crew.
