Hello there
I was previously working on a Normandy based Sturmpanzer diorama (link here), but due to various factors, unhappiness with how it came out, my usual short attention span, that sort of thing, the base now has a new occupant.
Tasca (as it was then) Sherman Vc, with RB Models barrel. Plan is to try and represent "Belvedere", 'B' Sqn, Staffordshire Yeomanry. I'm waiting for the decals from Star Decals, as the kit ones have the name in white and I understand yellow is more likely.
Anyway, here's where we're at, as they say…
The model on its base. The lower hull has had weathering (almost finished) but everything from the skirt mounting rails and up (including the little splodge of glue...) is just in undercoat:
I'm going to replace the kit-suipplied tie-downs with some resin ones I bought which will hopefully look a lot better:
The beginnings of the stowage...
Kit-supplied commander with a new head (Hornet I think). he'll have a microphone in his right hand:
Can't see it from this angle but there's a Resicast 17-Pdr breech in there as with such a large hatch it looked quite empty. I'll add a couple more details inside the turret, too, I think. Maybe even the torso of the gunner if I can get myself into doing it. What is apparent is the flat nature of the etched tie-downs (my fault, not Tasca's):
Shermans aren't really my thing, although I like the lok of them, so any corrections, comments, criticisms etc are, as always, welcome.
Thanks
Sean

Very nice progress. I too suffer from declining attention span while in the middle of a build. Keep going.

Sean,
Just caught up with this build and I love the way it's coming along.
Quite apart from your unhappiness with the Sturmpanzer IV build, I feel that your decision to switch to the Firefly was a good one. An operational Sturmpanzer in open ground in daylight in this theatre seems unusual - a Firefly just screams Normandy!
Before you get too obsessed with the empty turret think about the fact that anyone spotting this will be looking from the back of the dio. Your commander looks great. Add a loader and maybe an infantryman or two outside the tank and nobody will bother to look!

Well I reckon a little over two weeks is soon.
I had to change a few things (still WiP) thanks to new (to me) information posted over on ML.
The track holder brackets on the turret have been redone, along with all the other bits I'd attached up there. There seems to be a whole load of blankets, tarps etc fixed to the side along with some rope and other bits. On the other side there's a small pack or gas mask bag, can't really make out which.
There's a lot of dust on this vehicle.... fun times with hairspray.....
Please excuse picture quality
Cheers

Sherman looks great, very true to the original photograph. Hope you'll also get back to the Sturmpanzer dio which was coming along nicely.

Very nice. Love the stenciling on the storage containers and ammo cans - an often overlooked detail that adds a lot to the model.
