Hi Guys-

This is the latest on my Remeber Market Garden dio... I still have to paint the figs and the motorcycle.

The scene is supposed to depict the moment when 9th SS got word of the allied airborne landings. They were stationed between Arnhem and Oosterbeek awaiting transport to Germany for a re-fit. However, due to the allied attack - they had to go into the fray :-) The motorcycle orderly is giving the tank commander the bad news .... hehe

Comments and suggestions are always welcome - I am eager to hear your thoughts on this... I still have alot I could change - so don't hesitate to let me know what you think, good or bad.. :-)

Later-
Jeff

Jeff, the dio looks great. The vegetation, the tank, and the poses on the figures all look very well done. Only one thing that you might consider is to bring up more of the terrain up onto the tank.

Looking great Jeff. Love the whole scene. Great vegetation and ground work. The one thing that stands out to me that could do with a little work is to weather the insides of the side skirts. I see this so often that tanks look really nice and weathered and with washes, etc the base colour changes but the insides of the skirts are the same base colour.
Will you meet the deadline?

looks great! nice paint job on the Tank.......

One idea that springs to mind is why not a few SS troops marching past, maybe one or two turning round to see what is happening? Just to fill the gap at the front a bit.....

I hate to bring this up at this point .....
The camo is great and what I like about it most is the outlining of the 'blobs'. My critique is on the left side middle plate. it would look great if you could out line the top green section with red, then the bottom section with green. Just my opinion.

The vegitation is well done. Are you planning static grass for the dark sections of ground?

Thanks for the suggestions guys :-)

Scott - I did that middle skirt in a hardedge scheme to try and convey a sense of scrounging... I wanted to to look like it came off a different vehicle... hehehe I agree that it looks a bit out of place. I may just use the middle skirt from the other side - and ditch the hardedge one.. - I havn't decided yet :-)

I am also struggling with what to put in the open area in the front (to the motorcylce rider's left). That area looks out of place, yet I don't want to obstruct the scene.... hmmmm I might go with some low vegataion there.. but who knows .. lol

Thanks again for the comments :-)

Jeff, FANATASTIC WORK ! This diorama is coming right along. Pz IV is perfecto ! ......and the poses of the figures are right on. I like the Market Garden theme you have going on here as well. I happen to like the idea of the "odd" Schurtzen plate. Maybe show it more scraped up then the others ? Groundwork looks very convincing. I agree a few Infantry figures marching about would do wonders !

Outstanding, Jeff. Great job so far !!

Cheers !!!

jr,

maybe it is possible to have a few Germans having dinner and a smoke on the side of the field, or relaxing in another way ? It hardly matters what uniform they wear, as the force assembled by Model was a rag-tag. Among them were troops of the Hermann Göring division, and numerous others... According to one source I have read, the first 47 POW's taken by the British came from 27 different units !!

The diorama looks great so far, honestly... so I am curious to see what the endresult will look like..

Jeff - Good call on the armor. Scrounging is a cool idea, what threw me was that they were 'almost' the same scheme. Maybe a more drastically different scheme, something like this (Only a suggestion) maybe??

The open area hmmmm, maybe some camp remanence, a fire, with some left overs, or some log seats, maybe a crate seat or something. Fill in around with some grass and or low vegitation.

Jeff:
I got the idea behind middle armor plate right away and really liked what you did there....
About the only small thing to maybe consider (just for a little more color) is a slight tinge of fall color in the vegetation or a few "brown" strands of grass thrown in for good measure. Other than that, that's one heck of a nice tank.

I like a lot tha vegetation work on the dio base and the setup of the scene telling a lil story. Maybe something needed to fill in the ground area and also some trackmarks visible. Keep till the end its good

Jeff I too really like what I see. The skill you have at doing spot on armor is more then matched by your landscaping skills. I feel that any more figures or vehicles will detract from the scene you have created, so my suggestion is some low vegetation to fill the gap. Also the suggestion of some brown fallen leaves scattered around has merit as well.

Mighty good work there!

maybe u should just add a few larger stones to that open area (not too large ofc!) and some very low vegetation around them...

One more question: Is that motocycle Italeri's or....?
