Grabbed these images from the Netflix site documentary series WWII in Colour - looks like typical (German style) ridged Zimmerit on the turret sides, and very deep ridging on the turret front - anyone know if the British army messed around with anti-magnetic paste around '44/Normandy timeframe?

These were one-off tests conducted in the UK to evaluate zimmeritt's ability to help a vehicle blend into the surroundings. They never saw any action in any combat units.

The British experimented with Zimmerit after the war, Over 200 tons of it were captured unused. The British even devised a way to spray it on. No follow-up, of course, as there was no earthly use for it on tne modern battlefield.

The Northants yeomanry used strips of rubber on some of their Cromwells in Normandy which has the appearance of zimmerit. My mate interviewed some veterans after seeing pics of it and they confirmed having to glue it on.

Thanks - makes some sense - looks like it could be big rubber strips on the front of the turret, but more like "conventional2 Zimmerit on the turret sides - which you would potentially do if testing effectiveness of different types. The video clips in the series of episodes are all over the place - and often repeated so it is pretty much impossible to tell if this is combat footage or just some random footage of a Cromwell.

I know that famous resin zimmerit producer Atak will produce this experimental Cromwell zimm in future. I saw an announce on their FB page.
