For what i can see it looks nice. You really need to get a close up of the interior.
What kind of kit is this btw?

First time at etch ? WHat kind is it?
I am using the eduard set for my mobelwagon. Out of the to eduard etch sets i have, i must say that i really do not like there instructions.

Howdy PvtParts,

Your M12 is looking dandy so far. And I don't know about the "not seeing the interior" part.....I can see it just fine! And she looks great.

Question:...What is your 'mental' setting for your kit?

Hey, is this the M10 + 2?
Looks good so far John. Never mind about not being able to see the interior, we now all know it's there. Just model all the hatches open and at least a little will be seen.
Did you already paint the lower hull? Tough to tell. Be sure to paint the remainder of the interior the same white you used on the driver station.
Don't you just love PE though?! I know it's tough when you're first starting out, but after a bit of working with it, it gets easier. Even addicting.

Petro, it's Academy's kit.

Nice work so far on your M12. The interior looks really good. You said the kit itself is a bear ? Or did you mean the PE ? I have wanted to build this kit for a while, but never got one. I will keep an eye out for yours to see how you come along with it. Good luck with the build !

Cheers !

Sorry should have been a bit more clear. The PE is a bear . I never realized how small it can be. The PE is from Eduard and the kit is Academy. As far as setting..not sure yet but I will be working on it! #:-)

I like it!

One small thhiing -- you should paint the seats black and then weather them with field drab or the color you have used.

I love this interior and am using it in the front of my M32 ...

Looks good!
You painted the seats leather and Hollowpoint recommended black with khaki drab dry brushing. Does anyone know what the seat cushions were really made of?
I built this kit last year and used khaki drab but it was just a guess. I agree that the PE can be difficult to work with...but it really looks good when you get it all on. I have since bought an etchmate and my frustration level with PE has pretty much gone away. There is no substitute for having the right tool for the job.

I think Hollowpoint's suggestion is good - as your choice in painting the seats the Khaki Drab Cob.

Very early WW II US AFV's had black leather seats. I modeled this in my early M3 Stuart. These quickly were replaced by the brown leather seat as war production ramped up - so much so that it was unusual to see black leather seats even in the M4 Medium Tank.

Later war US AFV's began to receive the Khaki seats - and I believe the M12 is late enough to likely only have seen the Khaki seats. I hasten to say "never" because wartime can produce any kind of fit for expedience. I could feel more comfortable that the black leather seats from the 1930's weren't produced for the M12...

That is until Kencelot finds a photo of one...

Sounds good Gunnie. I agree that you should "never say never". The M12 was based on the M3 (Grant/Lee) chassis which most likely had black leather seats installed as original equipment. In any case it's a great start on an interesting vehicle.

Yep - that's why I hasten to say "never" with the M12. I go out to the MVTF Museum to nose around and look at the vehicles under restoration. They take great pains to get the details "correct" - but there's always the exception. It's amazing to watch a vehicle get restored from the ground-up and all that goes into putting it back together.

I trust Bob's (Hollowpoint's) opinion(s) too on matters like this - part of what makes this Site so valuable for modelers...

Yes, we're talking about the Academy kit released several years ago.

Black or brown leather seats are what were probably installed at the factory, but in the field, when they were torn, became dirty or just uncomfortable, they could have been re-covered with just about any cloth or canvas. Just keep in mind that these were the same, standard seats as used in a Sherman -- nothing special about 'em.

Nice Build PvtParts,looking good.
The pe can be a pain but as Ken said take your time and don't cuss to much it will work out.
Have a question for you what tracks are going to use Kit or add-on?
I would of made a few suggestions to you but as you are well on the way will say nothing about them.
Great build so far keep it up more photos please..

I hope you also like the Sherman based tanks as much as I am lately.
