Thanks, Robert and George.

It will probably be the last one I do until after the new year. Between my wife's battle with breast cancer and my parents health problems and me preparing for my new job as a museum exhibits specialist at Fort Sill, OK, I just won't have time to work on anything for a while. Bummer.

Cheers,
James

Well I was in your neighborhood last month! Had to make the drive up there for the first time in seventeen years!! I did AIT at Sill as well as track school.
Last time I was there, I took my youngest kid with me as he wanted to see somebody shoot a howitzer. We're driving around the place trying to get orientated, when I looked to my right and saw these really old crusty looking barricks! My old barricks for sure, and it turned out to be the last of the old time barricks on the post. We got out of the car and walked inside ( looked like nobody was using it). In walks this Captain and two First Leutenants. Apologized for violating their space, but told them I lived on the top floor. We had a good laugh, and the kid has to use the bathroom. Told him out back there was another building. Kid says "no indoor plumbing?"!!!
He did get to see them shooting for OCS thanks to the Captain. Couldn't believe how much them in drag in Lawton had changed!!! When I was there, it was a three mile long red light district!
Next time I'm in Dallas, I'll buy the lunch

Yeah, Fort Sill has changed quite a bit since you were there for AIT and stuff. Heck, it changed quite a bit since I had gone there on a JROTC trip back in the 1980's. I remember going out to the gun line with all of the other cadets and a Marine LT asking if anyone wanted to be an Artillery Officer. My SAI told me to raise my hand, and I said, "But I want to be Infantry." Then he told me I'd get to shoot the gun which was a M998 155 howitzer and that I didn't really have to become an Artillery Officer. So I raised my hand and they had me help load the round, insert the charge, put in the priming round, and then get to pull the lanyard. It was pretty cool.
Anyway, when I was there in the Warrior Training Unit after my last tour in Afghanistan, the post really appealed to me. It was just right in size, Lawton had become a better community and had grown a bit, and I enjoyed working at the ADA Museum through a Federal Internship Program I was in. Now that I will get to work there as a DOD Civilian after the beginning of the new year, I hope to see more of the area - and build more models.
Let me know when you are on the way. We have some stuff that is not on display, but is cool nonetheless. I'll give you the grand tour.
Take care, Gary.
Cheers,
James

I will let you know.

I remember going to one corner of Sill, and shooting right over Lawton to the far end of the impact range with a 175 gun! If those folks had only known!!

GREAT job on your figure!

It's Carling's Black Label. Worst beer ever brewed. I don't think there was ever a can served cold not even back in The World! Your friend and I must have been at the very end of the same supply line when it came to beer "rations." The 1st Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized) in Quang Tri was drinking the same warm panther p/#* as the 2nd of the 47th!

Actually Black Lable was great compared to world's famous Ballentines Ale!! You could give away!! Vietnamese refused it!
They Had so much of it in the wharehouses, that beer halls were forced to buy it! Good to shoot at!
If memory serves me right, you had to buy one pallet of Ballentines before you could buy two of the others! Somebody in Seattle had to be paying a kick back.
