Like I thought did not take long to get most of the main parts of the kit built. Fit has been a little finicky probably do to the age of the mold. Also almost none of the pegs fit and on the inside of the cab there were numerous injector pin marks. In addition while there is detail a lot of it is very soft again due to the age of the molds. the treads have some detail but are mostly smooth and there are some little rivets on the sides. Still even with the problems with the kit due to its age it still was a pleasant build. still on the fence about using the troops as they are rather bloby. Now weather permitting time to get it primed and painted

and just for size comparison here it is next to a quarter

It's time for me to join this campaign. I had some complicated builds lately, so I decided to enter with something simple.

Sure is small Casey!. Love the commander figure - Rigor Mortis has set in....

Nice choices Bogi and Shell

I have the AEC Mk 3 so will be interested to see if you have issues Bogi.

Shell, the Steyr has been on my list to acquire too. Does it have anything under the vents?

No, it has no interior at all. I think someone makes a basic interior set but I usually OOB my kits and didn't look into it.

Peter, I have some small problems which you will not, since you have MK 3.
First problem, lack of data. On the box art is vehicle with census number F59017 but I can't find any photo of it.
So I decided to build F59010 which is very well covered in wartime propaganda film.

I painted interior white

but little of it will be visible.
Same with engine

Then I started working on hull.
None of this screws are visible on photos, even the sharp horizontal edge in the middle of vehicle is not there.

so I shaved everything off, added this wavy belt on the top of the hull and replicate cast effect on the turret.

Tomorrow I will order wheels, since the kit ones have different pattern and barrel, since it's different, as much as I can see on the photos...

Wow Bogi. Do you sleep? So much done already!

I think Panzer Art does the Dunlop tyres with that pattern. My references tell me I need the same Dunlop type for the Mk 3 if I do the boxart vehicle.

Some really cool builds going on here.

BogiBg,Your AEC is looking really good. Did you have any problems with fit of the interior? I have the same kit in my stash, and with so much going on inside I was wondering how it fits in the hull. Good pointers on the improvements to the hull sides, will certainly keep those in mind. Wonder what the purpose of the wavy belt could be? Attaching cammo netting maybe?

I'll join in with another small scale, IBG's Otter Reconnaissance Car. I'll add some photos tomorrow.

Hull is dry-fit together for the photo, but here I am after 11 hours. I am closing up the vents due to there being no interior and I don't have the resources to recreate one, plus I am an OOB guy.

Stephen, welcome aboard. No problems with this kit. It only looks complicated.
Considering "wavy belt" (I have no idea how else to call it) I don't know what is it for.

Thanks BogiBg, at some point I will make a start on that kit. It does look very complicated! Wonder how much of it will actually be seen when it's finished.

Brekinapez, the M35 looks really interesting. Not a vehicle I know anything about. A captured Austrian vehicle pressed into German service?

Happy to be here petbat, was about to start anyway so may as well join in with the Otter. Looks to be a good little kit. Neat moldings, low part count (yet still manage to include the interior and engine!), small fret of PE parts and decent looking decals.
Thinking of finishing it in the Polish II Corps colours. The box top shows a vehicle in 7th Armoured markings. These are not provided, but it is good to have the less obvious and overlooked markings that the kit does provide. It's also missing the Boys AT rifle. Hard to excuse this as it's a prominent feature of the Otter and IBG include one as an extra in their Universal Carrier. Still, gives me an excuse to buy that kit.

Planning on starting over the weekend.

Stephen, just a heads up. The radio equipped vehicles did not have the Boys anti tank rifle, so you need to choose your options.

Thanks Peter. That diagram is really helpful. The kit does lack the antenna mount, so I think the AT rifle rather than radio will be the way I'll go.

Indeed. The Austrian army and police force had about a dozen apiece, and when Germany took control the SS ordered another couple dozen. Three were used in the attack on the Polish post office in Danzig; one was lost. Otherwise it was mostly policing duty on the Eastern Front and about 52 were all they built.

As it has no true front, it can be driven in either direction just fine. In fact, you have to make sure you are holding the hull sections the right way to make sure you attach the smaller parts on the correct end.

Looking good.
Thanks for the info. I think there were a few front and rear driven armoured cars in the 30's. Seems to have been a European thing as the idea never caught on in Britain or the
US. Pretty sure the Italian AB40 series had it too.

Started work on the chassis today. The engine is simple, but nice at the scale. Too bad it won't be seen.

Not looking good for me gents..
After finishing building the Fine Molds Millennium Falcon (wip for 15+yrs) for Hangar Queen pt whatever,

and having my wife knock the sci Fi campaign Launcelot off the table (she 'thinks' she found all the piece)

I just packed those parts away...

Not really felling like working on an APC right now, maybe later.

Ouch. I feel your pain MLD. I built the old Tamiya LVTP7 adding much detail and scratchbuilt parts, only for the wife to knock it out of the middle of the table whilst the base coat of paint was drying. Accidentally flicked it off shaking sheets before folding them.

Hope you get your mojo back soon.

Thanks man, it sure takes the wind out of the sails..

Overall the mojo is still strong, just not going to get/take time to start up on a new kit.
I've got a buncha WIP to wrap up this summer. Hangar Queen Millenium Falcon, Unfinished Business Jadgpanther, and a Meng AA gun for the AA campaign.

I'll get in on the next one.

I think I'm going to be finished by the end of next week.

There really isn't much to the kit since there is no interior, and the shape itself is fairly basic. Other than soft plastic, which gets very thin in spots such as the crew doors, the kit is going together trouble-free.

Looking good shell. I have reference photos of some of the interior, but none show what is under the vents. I know there are rods attached to the vents to make them all move in unison, but just what the radiator compartment looks like is a mystery.
