I assume that the white stuff represents the cast texture of the hull?
Have you got a close-up showing what it looks like?

I use the AK medium for the cast structure. I use an old brush for it. The Barrel is from RB, much better then the 2 part kit Barrel.

I used the RB barrel on mine as well. And aftermarket headlights. I am working on the tracks for it now while the paint cures.
