Looking good. Panda had a more built-up example at a show recently that was posted on the Kitty Hawk Facebook page. Of course I can not access them from work, damn firewall.

So - it's an M109A6 turret on a modified Bradley hull. Strikes me as the sort of thing the Germans were doing in WWII.

Sort of. It is an all-new hull using Bradley components. It is wider and longer than the Brad. The weak part of the M109A6 Paladin is the over 50-year old M109 hull and drivetrain. They can no longer keep up with Abrams and Bradleys and are very maintenance intensive. An updated hull that shares common drivetrain and engine components w/the Bradley improves speed, reduces maintenance and supply costs (single parts stream), raises Operational Readiness (OR) rates, etc. Some of the systems in the turret (elec drive as opposed to hydrauli, digital backbone, larger generator, etc..) have been upgraded as well. It should be a great system and extend the life of it out into the 2040s and beyond.

And, with a proposed L58 barrel currently being test, about to become true state of the art. With that complete, is there much more that can be improved upon in its current form?

Looks very nice but did any company come up with 1/35 M992A3 ammunition carriers yet?

I think the L58 barrel adds ten feet to the existing barrel, allowing for ranges of 70KM with rocket-assisted projectiles.
I think the new technology will come from the ammunition. I don't believe there is much that can be done to the existing form besides electronics upgrades.
Crusader is said to have tested well at 40 tons before it was cancelled.

It is almost ready. I can't wait. More pics of a 90% complete model from the Kitty Hawk Facebook page.

I wonder if the CROWS 2 is present on all M109A7? There are guns over here for Atlantic Resolve that have the pintle mounted .50 cal.

M992A3 should be easy to convert from the A7 hull. The super-structure looks like an easy scrathbuild compared with the
M992 A2.

I think the pintle mount is the standard fitting and the CROWS II can be fitted for combat use. The kit comes with both options.
Hopefully it will be out soon. Panda/Kitty Hawk said it would be available in April.

Yeah, that's a nice looking machine. And I would definitely love to see the resupply vehicle with it. And a boatload of styrene rounds and charges too.

These are already available from AFV Club.
