OOB apart from replacing the cylindrical oil drum with a flimsie carrier and flimsies

I'm in the same position as you...I have completed the build on my 1/35 Tamiya Matilda, and am planning to do the Caunter Scheme as well. I see you plan to use the AK Interactive set for the Caunter Scheme. While I am a Tamiya paint fan, I decided I wanted to try something more specific than a set of Tamiya paint mixes, and I did NOT want to do the blue color so often depicted as part of the Caunter Scheme. So, I bought AK Real Colors, RC039, Slate, RC038, Silver Grey, and RC041, Portland Stone. I haven't yet started painting, but I am anxious to do so. I'm curious how different, if different at all, the AK Interactive colors are from the AK Real Colors. I'll be interested to see your Matilda all painted.

the AK Caunter set has 6 colours but likelyto go with

AK4031 Portland Stone
AK4032 Sliver Grey
AK3033 Slate

rest of the pack is Light Stone, Khaki, Purple Brown (not sure what would be the latter - will have to try it on my paint-test kit to see what it is really like....)

bit more shaking... loving how well this is going together (3rd tamiya and think I will get a few more (nice to have a break from "newer" companies where sometimes the instructions/fit isn't the best). Upper hull just placed for now - will add once running gear painted up I think. Blocked off the mounting holes for the rear tank as that will have a flimsie carrier and deliberately left 1 lot of the spare tracks (were these really painted in the camouflage colour as per the box art?



anyway, I think the end of the week will see me back on indi-tracks and then painting of the t-20 but this is such a relaxing build (pity I want to stress myself with the caunter scheme ;-))

Hello, Friends!

A little bit of advice for you guys-

Pick yourselves up a copy of the Osprey Modelling "Modelling the Matilda Infantry Tank" by Mark Bannerman, with Consulting editor Robert Oehler. This is a MARVELLOUS little book, and in it, you'll find an EXCELLENT Chapter entitled, "British Desert Matilda, 1941", which was built by modeller Sean Dunnage. THIS chapter deals SPECIFICALLY with a Matilda camouflaged in the "Caunter Scheme", which I think will benefit BOTH of you well in your efforts. The "Caunter Scheme" is explained, AND probably best of all, Sean Dunnage and the other modellers which have built the models in this book used TAMIYA, HUMBROL, VALLEJO and TESTORS PAINTS. There is super-detailing, a scratch-built Interior and many other goodies and info about the Matilda Infantry Tank in this book... Being as this is an OSPREY publication, you guys should be able to purchase it and others like it in any of the better Hobby Shops, or even on Ebay, where I bought my copy several years ago... I used the "Caunter" guide in this book in order to build my old ITALERI Crusader Mk.I kit...

IIRC he used Tamiya yellow tape.

I used Tamiya tape, blue painter's tape and Silly Putty.
