Looking for a book on the Tiger 1, Don't want to invest in a library

So if you could have only one book, what would it be.

Has to be readily available and not outrageously priced

Thanks

Most definitely, the Haynes publication, 'Tiger Tank - Owners' Workshop Manual'(published by Haynes Publishing, ISBN 978-0-85733-818-1). Although the book is published here in the UK, it is also available in the US from Haynes North America Inc., 859 Lawrence Drive, Newbury Park, California 91320.

There's not one book that has it all.

A very affordable, but compressed book is this one from Osprey by Jentz and Doyle. It's far from complete, has small pics, nice color plates, and has some good basic info on delivery of Tigers to units, and production changes:
https://www.amazon.com/Tiger-Heavy-1942-1945-Fighting-Armor/dp/1855327910/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=osprey+tiger+I&qid=1559064705&s=books&sr=1-1

For the technical history, including production changes. Tiger, by Jentz and Doyle:
https://www.amazon.com/Germanys-Tiger-Tanks-D-W-Modifications/dp/0764310380/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=tiger+jentz+doyle&qid=1559064419&s=books&sr=1-2

For info on units, including detailed info on how many Tigers, replacements, combat history, lots of pics, etc:

Tigers in combat, Part 1 (Heer units)
https://www.amazon.com/Tigers-Combat-Vol-Wolfgang-Schneider/dp/0811731715/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=tigers+in+combat&qid=1559064529&s=books&sr=1-2

Tigers in combat, Part 2 (Waffen SS units, and Heer named units)
https://www.amazon.com/Tigers-Combat-Vol-Wolfgang-Schneider/dp/0811732037/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=tigers+in+combat&qid=1559064579&s=books&sr=1-1

"Sledgehammers", a good read, and debunking of the myth of invincibility:
https://www.amazon.com/Sledgehammers-Strengths-Flaws-Tiger-Battalions/dp/0971765022/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=sledgehammers+tigers&qid=1559064641&s=books&sr=1-1

Haynes Tiger manual. Not my choice.

Peko has a nice book with good pics for modellers:
https://www.amazon.com/Tiger-Battlefield-Photobook-English-Hungarian/dp/9638962364/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=peko+tiger&qid=1559065652&s=books&sr=1-2

The Peko book, might be a good choice. Additional info can also be found on different modelling forums.

Are you looking to build a Tiger in general?

For Tiger minutiae for modeling, I recommend Bunrin-Do's "Achtung Panzer 6" which includes detail drawings of the Tiger 1, Tiger B, Elefant, Jagdtiger.
