Hello Fellows

This is my first AFV for many years, I've had the Bushmaster in my stash for few years. I have close connection with this truck, i actually drew the CAD profiles for the Bisalloy plates for the bullet proof windows, very interesting project.

The army often do trips to one of my local beaches to show off and have a day trip, so i can get some good reference shots and colour matching

The kit is reasonable, the plastic is very hard and grainy but nothing that cant be overcome. The suspension is a bit over complicated but builds into nice unit

Thanks for looking, please jump in with any advice or comments

I grew up in Oz but live in Japan now (20 years) and was looking forward to grabbing one of these when it came out, Saw one in the chain hobby shop one station down from me and got all excited.....till I saw the price. I'd figured on it being cheaper here, due to the yen being much stronger than the Aus$; silly me. They were asking between 2 and 3 times the price it cost in Oz! Needless to say, I put it back on the shelf and still don't have one.

Are you on facebook Paul? If yes get in contact with Tony Clarke from Modelnerds - he has some of these in stock for a good price and may be able to ship one to you.

I am on F.B. yes, but unfortunately I don't have a credit card, or Paypal. I usually buy models from L.H.S. or H.L.J., 'cos I can get them C.O.D. being in Japan. Thanks for the heads up though; if I have a Loto win in the near future.....

Rob,
Sadly no, the owner and created of the kits passed away a few years back. His partner continued with the city store for a while, but I think it is basically wrapped up. His last project, an Aussie ship, was still coming out if I recall.

Watch out with the suspension/wheels, if you build the kit per instructions it will sit too low. Check the top of the wheels on reference pictures and see where they sit in refence to the wheelarches/vehicle and check some build up examples. If the builder did not correct it will sit very low and this really throws off the look of the finished truck imho. I like its tough and ready look very much!

Hi Rob.

If you haven't sorted your paints out for this build yet, give Scale Modellers Supply a go. Made here in Victoria, and a dream to use.

Looking forward to more progress on this one, best of luck with the build.

Cheers, D

Thanks for the information, and i have not bought the camo paints yet. I tend to use tamiya acrylics because i can buy them locally but I am concerned about using the flesh colour and i dont think tamiya greens are a good match either, so i may get the SMS set.

Can i use Tamiya lacquer thinner with the SMS paint, i have some on stock.

While i'm asking questions.....I'm looking for suitable troop figures for Australian Bushmaster, has anyone got any recommendations???

thanks for looking

i got some bench time over the weekend

Most of the interior is complete, i just need to tone down some bolts and add the fire extinguisher and i'll add done dust to the floors

I also started to add the bits and bobs to the outside, the moulded grab handles are not usable so i'll make wire ones

i've ordered more resin goodies

Another option is to wait for the MRAP Bushmaster from Kinetic Model.

Not this little brown bear; on-board stowage for me is all either from the spares box or scratched.

hello fellows

I started on the stowage and remote gun pod, everything is still glossy, i'll give it all a dull coat the sand treatment when I'm finished

I'm having trouble with my camo painting its a lot harder than i expected, i'll finish one complete backpack before i start the other, i need to try and perfect a good technique. Youtube here i come

I got my SMS camo paint, they are an Australia paint company with good reviews so will be interesting to see how they spray, first i need to get a face mask, nasty stinky paint

Very nice job so far. Beware of the mistakes in the camo scheme in the kit instructions. You have to check with reference pictures to get it accurate.
While you're at AM stuff you could use alternate decals for the spare wheel cover. I've bought a set of hexagonal auscam from Mouse House.
