The plan is to build a quay side (with some war damage) next to the U boat.

1/35 scale U boat is scratch build from polystyrene sheets.

Deck is custom made by a German firm in Berlin (modelbau wikkinger) from 1mm polystyrene ,

rivets are Resin

The U boat is build and painted for 98%.... still need to make the cables that run from the bow over the bridge to the aft ,and still need to weather the boat.

My Boat is U20 ...before the final bridge configuration.











The Mascotte on the front of the bridge is Lucky Hans

My fist attempt of building a quay,
it looks alright.but does not look Romanian /Black sea enough for me .
Wil use it instead for my non exciting harbour weathering techniques.

Idea for the Diorama is,
The boot is being supplied with food for there next War patrol against Russian shipping.

I wouldn't worry about it belonging in dios . There are plenty of plane , helicopter and civilian dios .
You're building a scene with a story line not a stand alone sub .

Hi Maarten,

Those are insulator blocks...they were made of glass and were a brown green in color.

You can use model ship single rigging blocks, just choose the ones that
are similar in shape and paint accordingly. You may have to do a little filing to get
them exact.

I did the Bronco Type XXVII in 1/35th scale. For the cable I used a product intended for making jewelry at home, it's called 'beading cord'. You can find it in any Arts & Craft type store, or on-line. It comes in different diameters and is nylon. It responds to super-glue, and can be painted and dry-brushed. For the insulators, I used white metal rigging blocks from a company called Bluejacket Shipfitters. I'm sure there are others who have a similar product. Al

The cables are called jumping wires but i don't know what these blocks are called in English.

And these on Shapeways don't look remotely like how they should look like .

The front wire was the transmitting antenna and the two aft wires for the receiving antenna

They have quite an amount of loose parts for shipmodels in various scales.
