Tamiya fig from the Zundap MP kit. I removed the gorget and did some under cutting as usual. Replaced the head with a Hornet one.



Gave him the appropriate gear for a MG gunner.



Began adding the missing Y straps and slapped a helmet on his teenage head




Slathered some paint on.




Fabricated a hole buddy from a Dragon fig and putty.



Made the groundwork and associated fixings.




Hope some may find this interesting.
This is supposed to show part of the 12SS pionier lines north of Cheux,Normandy,late 44.

So simple, though very realistic!, i lean from every view! 😉,

Wow. Excellent use of a kit figure. Mine was destined for the bin/spares box! You have a very good eye for seeing the conversion potential of stock figures. Reminds me of the great Roy Dilley's articles ( showing my age ) when he reworked the most basic figures to great effect. Well done,sir.

Oops , forgot to ask , and I'm surprised no one else has , but howinnahell did you accomplish the sleeping dude ? The standing dude is a cool morph but how much fm did you have to put into the sleeping guy , what fig , how much fm etc ?

Cheyenne- The sleeping guy has a Hornet head and Dragon brain bucket. His legs and torso were from the outstanding Dragon kit"Hohenstaufen". I buy those kits every time I see one available. The half of his legs is putty and his arms are all putty.
Alex-thank you Sir! Very high praise indeed! I do have several large tupperware boxes filled with older figure kits. You never know when you are looking for the"just right" frankenstein piece to make something easier to convert. Even th very very old Tamiya figs have a use as armatures and the big old clunky hands can be used as hands with think gloves on!

Cheyenne and anyone else interested. Here is the sleeper. You can see the areas I used putty. The legs were from a guy half laying on his side. I just gave them a half turn and moved his left foot down a bit. The arms are obvious.

Love it..never read the name of the poster at the start but figured it out pretty quick. Amazing work you do.

Brother, he speaks the truth. You"re one of the people I consider to be a SME when it comes to figures, just having adopted your undercutting techniques has improved my figures markedly. And if that was slathering, up above it's better than my deliberate brushing to be honest. Strong work as always! BTW any luck finding that Miniart set of mines and grenades you were looking for? If not I think I have one in the stash if you still need one.

Yep,still wanting that set as well as the Miniart German MG set.

I have a couple of these figures going begging in my spares box. I've not yet reached the ability to sculpt the webbing (I know it was leather) but I now have an idea to use it with the late-war uniform guy in the Tamiya field kitchen set. Thank you Jerry.

And that’s how it’s done – brilliantly! Probable silly question – chinstraps?

I just use strips of lead foil and punched holes in for the front pieces. The tops and back of the straps are putty,stuck on and then trimmed. The ring is just brass wire,wrapped around other brass wire.
