Hi all,

Thus far, this week, I've not done very much as we're having some half decent weather for a change and outdoors tasks are impinging on my modelling time...mixed blessings, .

I've been playing around with adding some courtyard detail. This involves having my first ever attempt at corrugated iron sheeting (see images below), . The sheet needs painting, as does the axe, which is only temporarily held in place. I'll need to add some 'sawdust' and split wood ready for the fire.

Cheers, .

G

That looks great. I think its those small details that help to sell the story.

Hi Ryan,

Shame to hear about your BA-64, I have been thinking about doing a 'snow' camouflage on a Tamiya 1/35th Churchill after seeing a number of images online. It would also give me the challenge of representing 'snow'.

As for your campaigns, you are incredibly active, and across so many genres. I don't have the skills for aircraft and ships, nor the creative imagination for sci-fi.

Keep us informed when your campaigns start, I'd be interested in following the builds.

Thanks for the positive feedback too, .

Cheers, ,

Hi all,

Just spent the last half an hour correcting a schoolboy error, or, as I like to call them, a stupid c0(k-up, .

I woke up this morning with the realisation that I'd done something wrong yesterday, and slowly it dawned on me what it was, ...I'd made my corrugated iron with the waves running in the wrong direction, Doh, me!

Corrected images below, along with offending item for comparison, .

I'm grateful that people were too polite to point it out, .

Cheers, ,

Hi all,

Some chopped wood added and a base coat for the rusty corrugated sheet (see images below).

Well, what I have found is that the skills cross over and just like armor kits selection can be key. The F6F kit has like 20 parts and I think most armorers could build without instructions.

My scifi scheme is based on artwork by another modeler. Paint scheme

I am trying to do the Humvee scheme. Should have done the snow scheme on page 1. If you go to page 5, post 113. That is a scheme drawing he created to help me figure out the other sides because I too don't have the talent to figure it out on my own. Painting that will be a huge challenge for me but it will be on my terms, nice and slow.

I do like the new wood pile.

Well, I cannot tell about the fact if you have breeches in your closet or not, but there is certainly no reason to downplay your skills.
Looking damn fine to me!!!

It is alive...!

Hi Ryan, Tim, Erwin, Cheyenne and Bostjan,

Firstly, my apologies for not responding sooner but I was away on holiday...literally only just got back home, was nearly stranded due to this darn virus, .

Secondly, thanks to you all for your kind words in my absence, they're much appreciated, .

Hopefully, tomorrow, I will pick up where I left off and start posting some pics of any progress made.

Thanks again, and cheers, ,

Hi Erwin,

Not keen on hospitals...that's not to belittle the amazing work that the doctors, nurses and support workers (and anyone else I might have missed) do, especially at this difficult time...but I might consider going if the nurse looked like Jenny Agutter did in 'American Werewolf in London', .

My sexist joking aside, a massive heartfelt thank you to all Medical and non-medical 'essential' workers, worldwide, that are working hard on the behalf of the rest of us.

Thank you, and cheers, ,

G,

They are going good. The hellcat only needs the gunsight and decking in front to be painted black so I can close it up. Pics soon. Started on the new Tamiya 1/35
M3 Stuart for my local AMPS club build, that has been a joy so far. I want to get another to build a different version, similar to what Roy Chow did.

Hi all,

Managed to get a bit of time today on the basic scenery. I want to try and make the groundwork look a tad overgrown, especially on the outside of the walls.

My aim is to try and make it look as if 'brambles', and other 'weeds', are taking over. I also want to try and achieve this effect without having to purchase any pre-made, and expensive, scale plants.

To that end I spent an hour outside trying to find some natural material to use. Luckily, where I live, I can do this without risk of meeting others, so doing my bit for 'Covid 19 social distancing' whilst getting some fresh air and exercise, .

I built up the 'brambles' in layers using some moss and lots of diluted white glue, firstly letting each layer dry before adding another. The idea was to add bulk, but without it looking as if I'd just stuck a wad of moss on the base (see images below of my initial results).

At the time of taking the pics the glue was still wet, so it looks a tad 'frosty', but I'm hoping it'll be less obvious when dry.

Hopefully tomorrow, when it's dried properly, I'll give it another coat of diluted white glue and sprinkle some dried tea leaves over it to represent foliage, least that's the idea at the moment, , unless anyone has any alternative foliage ideas, ?

Cheers, ,

Hi all,

Hope that everyone that is under 'enforced lockdown' is coping okay,

Managed to get a tad more 'landscaping' done today (see images below) using some of the natural material I managed to find yesterday.

Great to see you back in business once more. The vegetation looks the part, though the green leaves on top look a bit... awkward. The shape of the leaves look a bit aqueous (as if there grow waterlillies on the wall), yet the splash of colour looks great!

Hi Erwin,

I totally agree with you about the leaves looking awkward and somewhat aquatic, as you say, like water lilies.

In part I think that was partly because they stuck upright and looked glossy from the diluted white glue plastered over them.

However, I was hoping that as the plant died back, that the leaves would shrink and collapse, the white glue holding everything together.

Today, with the shrink back having occurred, I think it looks better (see 'before and after' images below).

Before:

After:

I've still to paint them, and I think I need to add some more to add bulk, but would appreciate your, and others, feedback.

Cheers, ,

Hi all,

Today I managed to get a tad more 'landscaping' done, this time to the outside face of the damaged wall (see images below).

The 'planting' is still wet but, hopefully, it'll look better when it has dried thoroughly, .
