Excellent! Got my popcorn, unspecified beverage & box seat at Cinema Rutman – fabulous opening scene Jerry, I think I even hear the high single-note violins building the tension. Presumably that’s an LED but how’ve you done that 2nd light source – daylight?
Others may have the same experience - looking at your monitor square-on it’s obviously quite dark, but if you stand up and look down at the screen much more is revealed…

Tim,Cheyenne and irwin, thanks a bunch guys for commenting. I appreciate it.
Yes Tim,the spot of light in the background was me trying to play with the amount and direction of light I let in the shadowbox. I am far from satisfied but hey,it is kinda dramatic. At least,I hope so!
Here is a pic with more detail but less atmosphere.

Martin and Ervin,
Thanks my two intrepid Dutchmen!
Both uniforms were privately tailored from captured Italian cloth these guys got when they were in Italy with the Leibstandarte. Both jackets were slightly different. I went right from period pics to copy them.

They turned out very good. Something different than the more regular camouflage uniforms!

There were quite a few guys in the 1st and 12th SS Panzer Divisions that had cammo clothing made from Italian cloth. The 1 SS PanzerKorp got this cloth the same time it picked up a lot of U Boat leather suits in Italy. Not many outside these units had this stuff.

Ha! You've done it again old boy! Great stuff.
Very atmospheric. Nice job on the Italian camo, which is easy to get wrong.
Cheers

Very atmospheric, but the poses are a bit "stiffer" than your usual. But amazing breadth of imagination for recreating this scene.

Thanks Sean. Yeah, that cammo style is surprisingly hard to nail down. I am still not satisfied but it's better than my last attempt so at least it's progress!

The poses are not mine because I was trying to save time to get all this stuff done for the first chapter of a book that will not be done now. LoL
Poor excuse but that is the reason man.
The poses are figures right from the box pretty much. I changed the heads and moved Wunsches' right arm but that was it.
I will try to do better next time,

Jerry,
Very impressed (as always).
Was it just me who noticed the stitching?
I have always loved 'shadow boxes' since seeing them in Shep Paine's books. You sometimes see excellent examples in museums. That was part of the reason why I decided to incorporate some lighting effects into my 'Liberation, Italy 1944' dio - although it is limited to the interiors and a street lamp.
For the diorama modeller the shadow box gives one big advantage - limited perspective for the viewer - but it plays havoc with the painting techniques!
Anyway, very well done. (The other) Tim

Jerry, you are a master modeler and we all admire your techniques and body of work. You don't owe anyone an explanation.

Tim and Bill,
Thanks guys for your comments. I say it a lot but it is because I really mean it when I write that I always appreciate it.
Thanks for digging into the details Tim. What you see is my fumbling attempt at showing the "puckering" which occurs at a sewn seam. I don't think I pulled it off very well here. My GI paras in my BoB scene look better as far as that detail goes.
Bill-No worries
I never know what to say about stuff like that so my first thought is "I must try harder".
