I'm starting another Large Build, I hope you Guys like it.

I'm starting with the engine, I know it's not quite accurate but most of it can't be seen .

More later.

I got the Ausf H version of this kit and I want to detail out the engine and engine bay, was thinking of getting the resin version or the 3d printed one from Shapeways. Neither are cheap tho.

I built the Ausf.H version about 4 years agoe. If you want it here's a link to the Pics from My build posted on this site .
https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArouE_A-TfGG3AHFfNHcQSody-NW?e=U2765J

I highly recomend the ATTAk Resin Zimmerit that is shown here.
Unless you are going to open the whole engine deck I wouldn't worry about the Engine as hardly any of it can be seen through the Engine Hatches.
Hey check out the Pics. you'll see what I mean.
Hope this helps.
Donald

I'm not shure if the whole thing coppied, any way here's it again.

yeah, Thanks for the link I was looking that the Atak zimm already. I want to leave the grills loose so you can open them up and see the engine compartment. Thinking of leaving all the hatches open to show the detail. Lot of parts shame to hide them.

I'll be following your build closely, with much interest. I almost went the resin engine route myself, but your excellent pics of your engine in your other PzIV build made me reconsider, along with the price of the resin engine kit. Thanks for sharing with us.

If you stick with me, I'll be showing you all how to hinge most of the hatches so you can open and close them. that'll be coming up eventually.
Donald

Ps. that includes the engine hatches.

I did some more on the engine, most of this can't be seen but the Belth if they are missing will be noticible.

First I slightly flattened 4 lengths of fine solder, then super glued them to the bottom of the bottom pully.

Trim off the extra and super glue in place.

Finished for now.

I always find your builds educational and entertaining, with just a whiff of dry humour. Your "type over" narrative style is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, my talent and knowledge is lacking, so all I can do is sit back, be silent supporter, and open up another bottle of Pinot Noir.

I've been trying for the wet humor, but I get half way through the bottle and fall asleep.

Well here's the Engine for what it's worth, You'r not going too see much through the hatch. oh well

I'll be doing the Generator (APU) next, it's under the Radiator so can't be seen at all.
Finished for now.

I really like the belts you improvised, something so small, adds so much to the model,IMHO. What size/gage solder did you use?

It's from an old solder coil I got from Radio Shack years agoe.
The coil size reads .032 now if that's mm. or inches , I don't know.
Hope this helps.

I just built this to show what they give you in the kit. This assembly really doesn't matter because it's burried under the Radiator and can't be seen.
There's not much in the Engine compartment, No Wiring Hoses or any thing else. Even the Exhausts aren't hooked up

Well next it's on to more visable and important things like the Transmission and some other interior parts.

Regards.

The Transmission is finished.

There are 2 parts # B5 & C37 that go on top the Transmission the instructions aren't really clear, here is where they go.

Now a little work on the Ammo Bins.
You really need a Bender for this.

Just bend them and stack in order.

The main bin is a little different, the flanges go down & they are glued to the back before the sides are added.

Be shure to keep the holes lined up.
Done for now.

I should think that would be 32 thou. 0.032mm (i.e. 32 thou of 1mm is almost impossible to see & = 0.512mm in 1:1 scale)

Have a little painting done on some sub-assemblies
Lower Hull sides painted White , then masked off for the Red Primer.

I have the Generator & Transmission painted I'll add some detail to the Transmission later, but not to the Generator. It's burried under the Radiator, and can't be seen.

The Ammo Bins

There's a lot of push pin marks in the Engine side of the firewall , don't worry about them as they can't be seen through the Hatches.

Hi Donald. I'm currently building some Takom Panthers with interior, and i'm blocked for the moment because I can't find the correct match for the red oxide primer. So I'm wondering what paint brand you are using

You won't get an exact color match, there are too many variables.
I use a mix of Tamiya 23ml bottle of XF7 Flat Red to this I add 1/2 to 1 Teaspoon of Tamiya XF64 Red Brown.
The more XF64 the deeper the color will be the less of course the lighter it will be.
Hope this helps.
