Interesting...have never seen or heard of any of the M60 family using a snorkel.
I have CEV TM's. Will have to look and see if it is referenced.

The whole M60 series were able to use this device, as well as the M48 series, but it was rarely employed. I saw it demonstrated at Knox in ‘76, but thankfully never had to employ it. The USMC used it more often. There was also a snorkel tube that mounted on the rear engine grills doors (there’s a rectangular bracket for that). Since the entire vehicle had to be extensively prepped and waterproofed, it was seldom employed much in the field. My understanding is the idea came from the snorkel devices used by the Tiger 1 during WWII.
