I'm in the middle of reviving my Revell M60 builds. I needed to pick-up at least another M60A3. Checking eBay and Amazon, they're nowhere to be found... Last month they were "thick on the ground"... Now they're as rare as unicorn horns. Can anybody explain what's going on? And even more important, does anybody have a Revell M60A3 they'd consider selling/trading?
Thank you for your consideration!

Isn't this the old Esci kit? If so try searching for it under that title or even the Italeri re-box. Just a thought.

Revell Germany did an all new 1/72 M60A3 kit that was far superior to the old Esci M60. Though I think Italeri has the Esci M60 in the catalog but it really only has the basic shapes with little of the detail of the Revell.

Sorry - I should have read the title properly - I missed the Braille Scale bit!

Matthew,
Check out Kingkit (www.kingkit.co.uk).
If you search through their Revell 1/72-scale military section, you will find kit ref. 03140 'M60A3'. The price is £14.99 + postage.
Hope this helps.

I have been admonished by many of my modeling friends (locally) for this post. As there are some M60A3's to be found in the local modeling community. As Dan commented above, "In attics and basements around the world..." And it proves true, After several local builders viewed this thread I received E-Mails & texts asking WHY I didn't ask them first. In short. i did not utilize my local modeling group, Next time, I'll know better. I did not realize I had so many Brailers in my "back-yard". Thank you Scranton PA Builders for the assist!!!

Maybe you could do a group build to get those M60A3's out of attics and cellars and into display cabinets

I'm considering a "family photo" pic of what I have going. M48A5 -Grandpa, M60(slick) Grandma, M60A1USMC, Mother, M60A1RISE USMC-DS, Dad, And M60A3TTS Son... It seems like a great idea, but getting the family together might be a problem...

The M48A5 came after the M60A1 RISE/Passive. It was an attempt to bring the M48A3 tank up to M60A1 RISE/Passive standards to make up for M60 series tanks that were provided to Israel. Less the obvious inferior armor the M60 hull and M60A1 turret provide.
Fire control-wise, it was ahead of the Slick 60 and original M60A1.

You also left out the M60A2 but I dont thinks that has been released in plastic in 1/72nd.

Do I understand your statement correctly that the M48A5 had better armor than the M60/M60A1?

No, the M48A5 does not have better armor, I state the M48 has inferior armor, but it has better fire control.

Yes, it has. Esci released several 1/72 scale M60 series kits; the M60A1, M60A1 Blazer, M60A2 and M60A3. Much like the original Tamiya M60 series kits, it's just a new turret on the same old hull. You also left out the M60A2 but I don't thinks that has been released in plastic in 1/72nd.

Yes, I did forget the M60A2. I have an ESCI 'A2 turret. that I've done a fair bit of work on. I've modified it to fit on the Revell hull. In the "family photo" I'd consider the M60A2, 'Carl' the weird uncle who lives in the basement...
