Yes it is ,
We had the waterlinie (waterline ) a series of defensive works that are (partly) surrounded by inundated areas,
or could be inundated at a moments notice by openig slueses.
This type of bunker was called a river casemate (very appropriate)
On the 10th of may 1940 The German Army just flew over them and dropped his Falschirmjagers behind it ....Job done
They even left their calling card on one

Very interesting, Maarten !!
I was in Normandy in 2012 and, in addition to the landing beaches and the museums in Bayeux, Sainte-Mere-Eglise etc., I also visited the battery in D'Azeville.
Looking forward to the result of your project!!!

This is fantastic stuff!
Azeville is a bit of a favourite place for me, in my humble opinion the best presented/interpreted of all the similar sites in Normandy.

The doors look really good and the whole structure really impressive.

Looking forward to seeing what you do regarding the scenic camouflage.

Cant start painting before its completely dry .
May be at the end of next week, it weights 4Kg thats a lot of water to evaporate ,luckily some dry and weather is coming so it will be drying on the south side balcony.

Just painted stones,
they repainted the gun bunkers a few years back and a bad job they did .

Something different than the usual stripes and mottle of yellow, brown and green .

Before pouring i added real rebar made from 0,7mm steel wire ,
still away faux concrete .

Can't ofcourse create exactly the same damage,
but it will be be adequate and the modern day pictures show 70+ years of corrosion of the concrete .
More chunks will have fallen out over of time ....with the rebarb rusting and cracking the concrete.
I am going back in !
