Isn’t that because it contained chromium oxide whereas OD No.9 was a mx of ochre and black?

Indeed it is!

I masked off the hull and turret to spray the shadows.

I sprayed the neutral gray first and then came back and oversprayed the black in the darker areas.

The green is next. I sprayed the Tamiya British green mix.
The green color mix was OK but the shadow effect wasn't a total success. The shadow zone on the hull turned out OK where I used the black. The areas I used the Neutral Gray showed little effect.

I ordered a Resin kit for the storage pieces (If you want the Hessin Turret PM me).

Now here is where I need help from the British armor folks. The kit does not come with any literature. I do not know what the various pieces of kit are and I do not know the correct colors to use. If you can identify the pieces and can provide a reasonable color I would be grateful. I don't want to wing it and end up with an inaccurate mess. And I already know they didn't use blue tarps!

The track was next. I chose Friule track over the kit supplied track. I want a metallic color paint that I could polish the track where it contacts the ground so I used Model Master
buffing metalizer paint.

This is the look I am after. (For discussion purposes only)

After painting, I added a wash to make the shadow areas more prominent.

I then buffed the track face. It is now ready for weathering.

I then took the spare roadwheel I got from the Black Dog resin accessories. The center hub was drilled out followed by drilling out the bolts. This will be mounted on the turret

Not sure of the extent to which such things bother you but I’m not at all sure that all those boxes in the Black Dog set are WW2 era.

The two long flat ones are, as far as I know, for modern 105mm rounds and the larger of the two on another casting block I have only seen used for 120mm tank gun rounds.

Panzer Art makes some very nice WW2 boxes, although they are sometimes described incorrectly in terms of their designations. I know that Resicast also makes B166 (3” mortar, PIAT) boxes, as does Accurate Armour. The latter also produces other WW2 boxes such as the C224 which is similar in size to the 120mm box I mentioned.

Sadly Robert, the only pieces that I can use are the roadwheel and a couple of folded tarps from this resin kit. The rest are not time appropriate to this kit. This is sad considering I bought the kit planning to use the boxes.

Just curious, what color would the British tarps be?

I’d go with a greenish drab myself. There was probably some variation.
