I like spruebrothers a lot.

Just this week I placed my first order with Hobbylinc to see how that goes.

Michigan Toy is selling more kits than I remember. I have ordered from them. I have not used their price match promise. They have a wide selection of paints and finishing products.

I've used HLJ.com, Squadron, Scalehobbyist, eBay and a host of others. Scalehobbyist and eBay are my faves.

Ebay is my primary source, as I don't mind the 1-month wait from China/Japan. If the price is better I will go more local, as I did for the Polar Lights 1/350 Klingon battlecruiser.

Hobbylinc is my favorite. Been using them for years. They are slow, but cheap. I use Miniature Market, Game Nerdz and Coolstuff Inc for figures.

If you buy on ebay, stay away from dragon-hobby. Overpriced and CS is horrible...

Been seriously burned by hobbylinc (USA), twice now. My favorite is Sprue Brothers, but I’ve also used Squadron, and Kitlinx. There a couple of S. Cal. Ebay shops I’ve used too, and I’ve not been disappointed, but they’re mostly for OOP stuff.

Just a word to the wise about Michigan Toy Soldier— you might consider the article below involving fraud committed by the owner on none other than Peter Jackson before ordering:

https://www.candgnews.com/news/business-owner-serve-time-scamming-‘lord-rings’-director

You should read the entire article, since this appears to be a repeated pattern by the owner, who has been jailed twice now for fraud. Not that folks shouldn’t order from MTS, just watch your credit card statements.

I am aware of the article. My personal experience: I have ordered from Michigan Toy Soldier for several years now without issue — good customer service actually.

Managing your credit card statements is always prudent practice regardless of where you shop.

Cheers!🍺

This is true. What disturbs me is the repeated pattern of fraud by the owner. For me, I’d think twice about ordering from him, and probably would use a Pay Pal account if I was ordering. I was rather taken aback when I read the article. It’s one thing to be caught once doing this, and actually serving a jail sentence. It’s another altogether to be caught a second time time, especially when the latter instance is well over $100K. there’s obviously a pattern and a lesson that has not been learned here.

The article is from nine years ago. Is it still relevant in 2020? At what point, and under what conditions, is it reasonable to stop citing it?

After all, I see people from Great Britain posting on here every day. Before conversing with them, I would read this article:

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/british-troops-set-fire-to-the-white-house

This appears to be a repeated pattern by this country. Not that folks shouldn’t talk to Brits, just watch what you say.

... and don't let them get their hands on matches

About the age of that article:

"Berry rang up the charges on Jackson’s American Express credit card between September 2008 and October 2009"

and
"Berry had asked for a reduced sentence, to which prosecutors objected. Original sentencing guidelines had Berry, previously convicted of a similar crime in the early 1990s, going to prison for 12-18 months."

If this goes in cycles of 16 - 17 years we should be safe until September 2024 or 2025. If "early 1990s" means 1994 - 1995 we could be due for another episode already in 2022

Far from perfect, PayPal has ripped me off in the past — a necessary evil if you intend to order from some vendors.

How exactly did they rip you off? Was it a matter of, you paid with PayPal, the vendor didn't deliver, and Paypal didn't reimburse you for your loss?

Just sayin’ buyer beware. If he did it twice, it’s a criminal pattern, regardless of how many years between occurrences. He obviously didn’t learn his lesson the first time. There’s likely a higher probability of repeated fraud by a convicted fraudster than of Brits inflicting a second arson on the White House.
