I've seen some people use 1/35 French early war tank crew figures as Spanish nationalist Tank crew figures, would using British early war tank crews in say a leather coat and a beret be usable as well?

I’ve seen the condor legion crew on eBay but haven’t been able to find the other, is there any other crews that can be converted. I’ve heard that French tankers with berets work as well

Heller makes the original sets of the Republican soldiers (shown on Scalemates) with Machine guns and cannon, originally packaged as French troops. You can find Heller kits on eBay. You may be able to kitbash a few sets together. They have a set of Chaussers d'Alpin with berets.

I’ll have to take a look at those. I’m currently looking at a Verlinden French tanker set. Seeing as they wore non reg uniforms they might work as well?

I think you could use figures in coveralls, some of the period photos show leather jackets, military style breeches, berets, helmets. Franco had most of the professional Army, the Republicans were basically civilians with weapons. They were being supplied by Stalin with weapons and equipment. I think it's a fascinating period in history. Good Luck with your project.
