Can you paint rubber tracks? I’m building a Tamiya Tiger 1 and would like to make them look more realistic.
Any other suggestions to create a more realistic look are welcome.
Thank you and keep modeling.

Yes, they can be painted for various scale effects.
I wash them first in denatured alcohol. Isopropyl can also be used to clean them of mold release.
Then prime them with aerosol can enamel flat black.
Then use acrylics and with pigments for desired effect for location of model.

I do the same with your preparations as well...with one additional caveat. I spray the whole track with Testor's Dullcote...which seems to 'seal' the paint. No flaking at all after all these years.

You're very welcome.
And not to over complicate something by introducing something simple, please check out this technique by Builder2000 for Tamiya polyvinyl, all steel, tracks:

Watch the video posted in the first post from 24:57 - 25:20. This may be an approach for those Tiger I tracks.
