Maybe it's me, but this thing looks like it just drove in from an Indiana Jones movie. Eh?
Talk about basic...the Victorian era meets the MG and internal combustion engine.
These were produced by Autocar (the vehicles were known as the Armoured Autocar) and equipped the 1st Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade, which I believe were the first mechanized armoured unit in the world.
There is one preserved in the Canadian War Museum.

My grandad (RIP 1971, WW1 Veteran) knew of these simpler times. He would paraphrase about vehicles back then compared to the modern era with something like..."back then they had 500 parts and go 500 miles, but today they have 10,000 parts and go 100 miles". Maybe he had something there...
