Okay, I'm going to try this again...

I thought of doing a diorama from some of Bill Mauldin's cartoons ("Up Front"). Then I thought, why not a campaign, you know, share the fun? A couple of examples is Willie in a foxhole with a Tiger (or a Mk. IV, or V, or whatever.)over him, saying, "HQ, I got a target for ya but ya gotta wait..... If you look on Google or in his book "Up Front". If you guys saw some, I really think you would like it.

(Wait!

Thanks for your time.

I think that's a pretty good idea. We could all probably use a little more humor in our lives. Modeling always seems to be such a "serious" endeavor ,it would be nice to convey a little humor in a diorama.

It'd be a cool idea, there are a few campaigns/group builds in progress at the moment but I'd go for it.

Yeah, this hobby always seems so serious. We all need a good laugh or two every now and then. Thanks for your time.

There was a dio of that very cartoon at AMPS this last weekend.
I have not been through all 500 pics, but it should be in there somewhere.

I think I also saw a dio of the "put the jeep out of its misery' somewhere before as well.

People have scratchbuilt Spaceman Spiff (Calvin and Hobbes) dios as well.

Here's another. Say, when would be best for you guys? i.e. after most of the campaigns end? Also, I think that this would be a good tribute to him. Thanks for your time.

Ola People

I have a couple of Bill Mauldin drawings in a book and I liked the one where this soldier is sitting in this trench with another guy and he is reading the paper saying: "Hell this is the most important hole in the world.... I`m in it!!!!!! " Always have a good laugh when I read that one.

I also have Mauldin's book: "Up Front" and there are many good subjects there. I would be interested in participating in this campaign. However, it would depend on the timing and length of the build.

How does October 29, '04 sound as a starting date? And maybe March 29, '05 for an ending date? I would've picked January 22 as the end date because he was born on October 29, and died on January 22. But like I said, how does 10/29/04-3/29/05 sound? Thanks for your time and cooperation.

Dates sound fine for me.
Will give me a chance to finish up the other projects.

The 10/29/04 through 1/22/05 sounds good. Count me in, I will take a look and try to decide which picture to use.
