I shouldn't be posting this but:
Ok, the dimensions written were 13.5 and 3.5 (1/10 scale)
I have put all the tanks that I'll be doing on but I need your imputs regarding some of the tanks written there. Will the Marder III look ok? And what Panzers did they use?

Would they even be able to get that close to each other before blasting each other to bits?
Panzers, don't really now.............I'd imagine 3 or 4's.

I think most of them were panzer 4s.
Most of the armore battles with that number of tanks happen in open areas because they all need space to maneuver.

Hey Shonen
First things first, I like the layout/plan for the dio. Now to the issues. I'm going to have to go with Warthog on this one, I'm pretty sure they would be Panzer 4s. But like every thing else I'm not an expert so I could be wrong. One point to think about though with this many heavys in one dio you are going to need one large base. Keep in mind the area where the battle was fought was very heavy woods with narrow roads. There was some open ground, but I don't know if it was large enough for what you have in mind.
If the idea is to show the early phase of the battle how about one or two knocked out Shermans with a King Tiger rolling by. Just a thought. Either way good luck.

Thank you all. I'll have to rework on this one. It'll be 2 diff dioramas to make it look better. One for the Germans and one for the US.

The panzer could be a Stug. Lots of them at the Bulge and the SP would be different from the Tigers with turrets

I was thinking of having a bigg hill with trees on it and the house in fornt of it to split the base in half then have the U.S. on one side and the germans on the other. The hill wouldn't let them know each otehr was there.

Here you go (thanks Kar98k!!!)
Great! I'm not expecting this diorama to be this big!!! The one in the yellow would be the third diorama which will incorporate more on infantry battle.

Hello,
You need to remember that during the Ardennes offensive Germany scraped everything it had together and threw it at the Americans. They used a lot of SP guns, Jagdpanzer IVs (on PzKfw IV chassis), Jagdpanther, SturmPanzer "Grizzly Bear" , King Tigers,Tiger Is, Panthers, Panzer IVs, Wespe, Marder III, half tracks, trucks, staff cars.
You might think about having a force (one side or the other) stumbling across the staging area of the enemy. There was a lot of confusion during the Battle of the Bulge and such a scenario is possible. That way you could display all of your vehicles and it would be quite realistic.
I don't think that people realize that the Americans also had many diverse vehicles such as Tank destroyers, various Sherman versions, Stuart light tanks, Chaffee tanks, many versions of the halftrack, M-8 and M-20 armored cars, jeeps, trucks, recovery vehicles, ambulances and staff cars.
Actually the the most fearsome tank on the batllefield was also the least effective, the Tiger II. Mechanical failures, lack of fuel, and limited mobility proved to be its downfall.
I hope this helped a little.

No problem RED. They only took me a few minutes. On the advancing German side you could put an Allie artillery gun to show how much of a suprise the battle was to the Allies and how fast the Germans were moving.

hmm..... Wespe SPs were used in every theatre by the Germans in WW2. But in the Bulge they probably would have sunk into the mud because of their narrow tracks. Also, there was tactics to advance in line abreast across a field. Also, wth the German armour there would have been Pz.Grenadiers all over the place or other infantry units eg fallschirmjager or VGD. The Yanks definitely had Stuarts in the Ardennes for recce. Also at the start of the battle you wou;d get sporadic resistance like US inf waiting for german tanks to pass before the bazoka'd them at close range etc. Maybe this could be factored in somewhere. Good luck
