Does anyone have any info on airborne jeeps (ww2), specifically, did American airborne units modify their jeeps for glider delivery the same as British units?
Thanks Dub

I know FAUST did an airborn jeep recently. He is working on a feature for it too. There were lots of threads showing the modifications etc. If you do a search on airborn jeep or go to FAUSTs member page and look at the threads he has started you can find all the good stuff.

Slodder is right and I`m am working on compiling all the information of the complete project into one article only this is going slower as I thought it would go. Well I can help you with this:
Scratchbuilding the Airborne Jeep #1 Assembly
Scratchbuilding the Airborne jeep #2 Assembly
Scratchbuilding the Airborne Jeep #3 Details
Scratchbuilding the Airborne Jeep #4 First paint
Scratchbuilding the Airborne Jeep #5 Camouflage the Gun!!
Almost Finished
Finished Dio: Borrowed goods
This is the type of Airborne Jeep used by the british to fit in the Horsa Glider. I don`t think the US Airborne Jeep is much different but I sadly cannot tell you if it is as I only have some knowledge of the British Airborne Jeep
I hope this helps you out a bit further

The U.S. AB Jeeps where very similar to the regular jeeps. US Jeeps where transported through the air by Wacco Gliders, that where bigger than the British Horsa's. Since most of the modifications had to do with fitting the jeep in the Horsa gliders, the US jeeps wheren't changed that much.

Dub, haven't heard too much of any modifications on US Airborne jeeps. Here is a good site of a restored jeep (includes a pic of an 82nd Airborne jeep that he used as his basis.

Thanks guys for your help. Faust, wow, great job on the jeep. I'll borrow some of that info when I tackle the Wolfheze crossing, although I think some of those jeeps were fitted with twin Vickers. Eagle, you confirmed what I was thinking, that space and loading were not as much an issue with the Waco's. I've seen a few pics of U.S. airborne jeeps with pannier racks on the back and the spare moved to the front grill. Thanks again all of you...
