This is my entry for the Softskins Campaign. The kit is from Skif and very basic, so far, I've rotated the axles 9 and 5 degrees, added u-bolts, lots of bolt heads, bump stops, some other stuff. The bottom part of the cab is completly wrong and I already started modifiying it, much more is to come. Next is, more details for the chassis, engine/plumbing details, and the cab. Tell me what you think guys.

I know very little about this vehicle so I will be following your build to learn all I can. Keep us posted of your progress.

Like Animal I know very little about this type of truck as well but I just love the little detail bits you have done. It looks like excellent work and can only make the model a lot more detailed and greater looking in the end. Thanks for sharing please keep us updated on this one as Like Animal I enjoy learning something new.

Thanks Cliff. The Gaz-66 truck was introduced in 1964 and its production ended in 2003!
The truck is very reliable, it has an aluminum V-8 engine, winch, central tire inflation system, and limited slip differentials.
There is a HUGE amount of reference for this truck, but unfortunatly for so many people, most of it is in Russian. Here are some great links that I used:

Any idea if this is the same molds as the Revell GAZ-66? I have the Revell model and it looks pretty good in the box, full engine and all the bells and whistles.

I have heard that the Eastern Express in a rebox of the old Scale kit, I think Revell would have better fit and instructions than this.

You're a courageous man paul !
it's coming along nicely !
As far as I know, EEC reboxed SCALE... and REVELL reboxed SCALE too !
I've never heard of a SKIF kit of this vehicle and I thought the SCALE mold was the only one around...
I have the SCALE kit waiting patiently in it's box.
