This little gun was built originally to be placed as cargo on my DUKW. With questions about how/when it was carried, I decided to have a chevy gun tractor pulling it. Then I was informed that this was possible but unlikely. So it didnt have a home ... and I finished it along with the hellcat. Maybe something in the future will be happy to be straddled with it.
The kit is ItaleriŽs, and a lovely little kit it is. Nice to build and fine detail straight from the box.
As usual all comments and critic are welcome! Cheers!

Having just finished an Italeri Priest with most of the 105mm pieces as yours, I really like the look. I want to mount one in a halftrack just like the ones in the movie Kelly's Heroes. Can't wait to see the one completed here on Armorama that someone started

Nice build, but it looks like it should be parked in front of a VFW -- you have no worn metal on this. The rails under the gun get polished by the recoil. The gun breech should be closed if it is in transit (plus some other details change when the breech is open). The breech and breech block also should not be painted -- it should be bare steel. The teeth where the elevation gears touch should also show metal wear.

Frank

Gotta agree with you, this is a nice little kit. Your's looks well done. I've always thought a little vignette of a battery of these would look kind of cool.

Thanks very much guys for taking the time to make some comments. Much appreciated
Bob .... you are right about the gun breech not being closed. This was a mistake that was pointed out when I first showed this.
I think Im gonna have to rethink my photographing as its seems to be getting a bit washed. The slide rails and block are dry brushed with some silver to show wear, as are handles and other higher points like the elevation teeth. But flat coating and a dust layer has hiden this effect in the pictures .... it is there. Maybe in areas of high "polishing" like this, I need to re-do this after dull-coating. Next model, IŽll try this to see if shows better.

I have been trying to get away from over washing and over dry brushing, to get a more subtle and realistic finish on my models. These two are now the first steps, and then i play about with filters to blend all. Sitting on the shelf the models are looking good but dont have unnatural highlights .... the detail does stand out fairly well. But at the same time, the images here suffer for that. Its a good point though. IŽll need to pay it abit more attention.

Is this a fact? I always thought the just were steel coloured because of the wear and tear. I painted all base colour and drybrushed on metal in this area for the wear. Is this a rule for just US armor, or would it be the usual throughout all countries armor? It would be great if some of you guys that know, would help out a bit with this, as it seems to be a bit of a stumbling block for me. Cheers.

Nice work on the 105mm Howitzer. Coming right along too. I will keep an eye on this as you proceed.

The Italeri model of this Howitzer is as good as any of the newer AFV Club Artillerie kits that have come out lately.

Good to go !!

Nice job plastic ...I should get one of these kits one day ...nothing says artillery like the 105..If there is one thing that I noticed it is the 2 punch marks on the back of the shield just above each tire. (damn punch marks !! ) It's true this kit doesn't show its age at all .
