I just had to share the news of my acquiring a brandy new Iwata HP SBS AB! I have been hemming and hawing over getting a new one to work side by side with my Aztec for far too long. I finally caved in - the Mrs. too.
I have so many models on the desk that need all kinds of coats that I'll be busy for the next week spraying.

Ain't she shiny?!

Nice Ken! I think you will be very pleased with this new "toy". I have had an Aztec for a while and it's OK, but a year or so back I got an Iwata HP-B for detail work and I just love it. I only use the Aztec for large coverage now and I'm planning on getting another Iwata for that job. The Iwata does a really great job of atomizing the paint, allowing you to lay down really thin coats so you don't lose all the detail you've worked so hard to add. I know there are a lot of people who swear by their Aztec (and others who don't) but the difference to me is like the difference between a Ford Taurus and a Mercedes E class. The Taurus will get you there, but the E class does it so much better.

Enjoy,
Mike

Which 'bottom-feed' Iwata would you guys recommend for camo and detail work? I have been using a Paasche VL dinosaur for decades, have never been particularly thrilled with the thing and use it exclusively as a spray gun.

Thanks,
Cody

I got a chance to play around with it today, and I will say that I like it very much. Easy to handle, very fine spray pattern, excellent atomization, and fairly easy to clean.
I also do not have to thin the paints as much as with the Aztec. But, please don't get me wrong, I still love and will still use my trusty Aztec.

Your best bet for an Iwata - Bottom Feed would be the HP-BC Plus.

Congrats. I've been using the same one for about a year or more now. I also bought the crown cap for it. Just make sure to clean it often and try to avoid using hot cleaners (lacquer) as it can dry out the o-rings. I also lube up the needle and the trigger on occasion.

Thanks again, Ken - I ordered the Iwata HP-BC+ this morning(Sunday) from Dixie Art Supply. Lookin' forward to playing with the thing when it arrives. If ithe spray pattern can be adjusted large enough I may even be able to put the Passche dinosaur on ye olde eBay.

Cheers,
Cody
