Hi everyone, I just saw this over on Missing Lynx. Tamiya Model Mag has just gotten a website up and running and there are several pics of the new C2 up. The link to the main page is below. Once there just click on the "News" button and they are on the 5th page of the news items. Also can we please not turn this into another "Why this kit, why now, thread" that has already been done (twice). I am posting this because I thought some people, as I was, would be interested in seeing the pics.

Mike

Holy cow, this looks good in those photos. The detail of the side-skirts is especially well-done. Any doubts as to whether this is worth throwing the Trumpeter kit away for should be settled.
Again, I say "wow".

Those pics now make me glad to have held off on buying Trumpeter's Challenger 2! No offense Trump., but I'd rather take this particular kit (although some of this feeling comes from working with the base version Chally 2).

Looks really good. It will bre interesting to see how it stacks up against the Trump kit. I have one of the Trump kits. Maybe I'll do a comparison/review. What do you guys think? "Q"
Of course, somebody might beat me to the punch, but the offer is there.

Another very positive point I noticed on their links page was that Armorama was one of the nine featured links. Its great to see that Tamiya is starting to recognise the site!

pardon my ignorance, but is the white panel found on the real tank itself? or is it the CIP?

Leopold,
If you mean the panels on the forward faces of the turret, yes they are the CIP's, they were found on most of the C2's used during Op Telic. I have seen a couple of pics of tanks without them but I'm not sure of the timeframe, if it was before during or after most of the action had taken place and if they had never had them or they had fallen off or what?

Not really, take a look at the pics below. The flat panels are on the front of the turret, while they put the IFF panels on the sides and rear.

Thanks for images showing the panels....i was really worried about the authenticity and look of them....(not really...well...kinda). but, it's nice having a place like Armorama and it's members that are around to explain (and post images) of the what and wheres about new releases...hehehe, I LOVE THIS SITE...and the members.
In the dictionary....look up pletheria and there's a link to the members of this site.
Dang....i'm buying this kit because of the stir that this thread has started and ..it's modern ... and i can paint it something other than green....and....like Matt, i can have it sent to the office and hide it from my wife...hehe oops hehe
Really, it's a fine looking kit. The skirts look great and with alittle help, they can look even more realistic.
