John,
that is some exellent modeling your shared with us. I'm going to show this link to my dad, who's also into scratchbuilding those Big Ships of Yesterday. Actually I have one of his ships standing in my attic...it's the V.O.C. tallship "Prins Willem"... almost 1.5 meter long and 1.1 meter high....
Excellent modeling ! Thanks for sharing this with us.

brilliant stuff
lots and lots AND LOTS of patience! my partner and i are considering one of these (larger) kits, alot of work, but as your example shows, well worth it.

Thanks Kitbasher.Yes ,it was the most rewarding thing I ever did in modeling which says a lot from a guy who spent his life in aviation.I wanted to tackle what I considered the most complicated subject in modeling,a fully rigged ship.I am glad I did because it gave me the confidence to explore other artistic endevours.I kind of said to myself ,if I can do that ,then I can do this, and so on.I knew nothing about ships when I started except that I have always loved the majestly of the fully rigged ship.if you decide to build one the best advice I can give is get the best references possible. The best thing about doing Victory is that she still exists.Just be careful about references though as she was rebuilt many times over her lifetime.I have seen artwork by people who should know better where Victory was depicted in their paintings of her at Trafalgar as she was in the 1700s. Thanks again.Cheers! John.
