Well, you definitely ain't got jungles in Poland The oldest wild forest of all Europe spreads out somewhere in Poland though.

I'd suggest that you browse the internet a bit, try to have a look on some touristical sites of Poland, you might get an idea of what it looks like.

A good start might be : www.polandtour.org, there are some pics there. Check the links this site offers, there are links to the major cities of Poland, mostly available in English. I'd suggest you take Warszaw as your setting. The Germans took the city in september 1939 after a heavy battle. Towards the end of the war they razed the city as an answer to an uprising.

Succes with the dio!

Jungles?... :-) No, no jungles here. But we have large forests. Not "rain" kind, but regular dry European forests.

All kinds. Not sure what kind of paved roads we had here during WW2... Was it asphalt back then? Now it is mostly asphalt.

Achtung!!!

Poland has a moderate climate, with a terrain varying from plains and swamps to mountinas, to forrests (leaf trees and evergreens). The dust donw there is generally dark grey. Here are some pictures: http://www.gode-vandreture.dk/index2.htm
Here's something else:

or on this site: http://www.oelemars.com/reisverslag/muritz/d_userin5.htm

I think back then Polish roads were either dirt or cobble stone. I don't think they had asfalt in the 30's. It is also possible that they used concrete for some of the roads.
